What kinda whisky is it? Strathspey? On the box of the Dalwhinnie Winters Gold it suggests keeping it in the freezer. Is this a thing? Thoughts!

Made in the highest and coldest working distillery in Scotland, with water from a loch at 2000 feet, Dalwhinnie whisky thrives on extreme conditions – creating a liquid as sweet and accessible as its highland home is remote. What kinda whisky is it? Strathspey?
I had a bottle recently but it didn’t last long enough to chill. On the box of the Dalwhinnie Winters Gold it suggests keeping it in the freezer. Is this a thing? Thoughts!

I'd dae it. Sounds good. For my first few years of whisky drinking I'd always have it room temp, nae ice, nae water, as its meant to be etc. Over the last few years though I've changed to having a single ice cube in it. Sacrilege, how can ye, etc etc. Don't care, like it cold!On the box of the Dalwhinnie Winters Gold it suggests keeping it in the freezer. Is this a thing? Thoughts!

Perfectly acceptable, as is a dash of water, as some distillers I've met will concur. I personally prefer ice as the flavour 'sweetens' as the ice meltsGuilty too!! Often take a notion for a dram with ice… don’t tell anyone!!
Somebody suggested Cu Bocan recently . I bought a bottle off Amazon and it is excellent .Great shout, thank you!Perfectly acceptable, as is a dash of water, as some distillers I've met will concur. I personally prefer ice as the flavour 'sweetens' as the ice melts
Love that. That’s an experimental one from Tomatin (i think) but it’s tip top; very tasty!Somebody suggested Cu Bocan recently . I bought a bottle off Amazon and it is excellent .Great shout, thank you!
A daft 19 yo me was at a family home leg stag up north (good few years ago). Ended up back at my uncles house and he asked if I’d like a whisky. Can’t remember what I picked but he had very expensive taste and I asked for coke in it.. he stopped, turned and looked at me and said “right, you can have water or ice or I’ll have that back”; I apologised, asked for both an never looked back. I laugh thinking back on it but I always remember his glance back at me was as if he was going to string me up for suggesting it.. and rightly so!!! Silly, naive and uneducated mePerfectly acceptable, as is a dash of water, as some distillers I've met will concur. I personally prefer ice as the flavour 'sweetens' as the ice melts
Heard about this for years but never done it. So what's the story? Does it go syrupy? Do you drink it straight?Vodka from the freezer is superb though
Bombay Sapphire Gin straight from the freezer is today.Heard about this for years but never done it. So what's the story? Does it go syrupy? Do you drink it straight?
What's the point basically?
I've got some of that. Still don't understand though. In a glass? How long? Straight? Why?Bombay Sapphire Gin straight from the freezer is today.
Have you tried whisky stones? I keep a couple in the freezer - cools the whisky without diluting it.I'd dae it. Sounds good.
