A daft 19 yo me was at a family home leg stag up north (good few years ago). Ended up back at my uncles house and he asked if Iād like a whisky. Canāt remember what I picked but he had very expensive taste and I asked for coke in it.. he stopped, turned and looked at me and said āright, you can have water or ice or Iāll have that backā; I apologised, asked for both an never looked back. I laugh thinking back on it but I always remember his glance back at me was as if he was going to string me up for suggesting it.. and rightly so!!! Silly, naive and uneducated mewouldnāt dream of such sacrilege now!!
I will try that. I like a whisky, but I'm not that knowledgeable about it. I'm told by people who are that a tiny bit of water opens it up. Views?Have you tried whisky stones? I keep a couple in the freezer - cools the whisky without diluting it.

Haha, no - not that one!Big Hun bastard uncle?
Depends what it is and what you like. Does change it sometimes for the better but not always! Adjust to suit yourself. Some of the cask strength ones definitely need it in my view!I will try that. Just to condradict myself again aye a TINY splash of water opens it up mate.I will try that. I like a whisky, but I'm not that knowledgeable about it. I'm told by people who are that a tiny bit of water opens it up. Views?
You should always try whisky neat, imho, even the cask strength stuff. Then add water bit by bit until it's the way you like it. Finding that sweet spot can be tricky. Nothing worse for me than watery whisky.I will try that. I like a whisky, but I'm not that knowledgeable about it. I'm told by people who are that a tiny bit of water opens it up. Views?

Aye, Iāll try to save the other one for a wee while. That's a nice contrast. An Old Putney first I assume?

WTF is that in the cup?No chocolate this evening (apologies to @emerald green). Tis the mince pie season. Match made in heaven with whisky. This is a Master of Malt Christmas bottling of Craigellachie 11 year old.
