You are right, lovely gas-like vapour as it moves across the tongue too, can't really identify the citrus but my sinuses are fkd usually. Lighter peatyness than some other ones perhaps?Like a milder south Islay peat monster. Peat smoke, sea salt, citrus tang, peppery finish.
8/10.
Am I right?
I visit a pal from time to time. Every time I go I have a Laphroaig. The next time I I go there is exactly the same amount in the bottle as when I left. An acquired taste indeed.I did the johnny walker experience on Friday.. was quite good.. had a nip of thier Harris tweed limited edition which was pretty nice.. bloody expensive to buy at there's only 10k bottles.... tonight I'm having a few ardbeg 10s to celebrate our fantastic victory.. have a nice bottle of Laphroaig sitting by but I'll keep that for another night
Was at the Fife whisky festival in Cupar yesterday
Fantastic evening. You had a whole team flown in from Japan.
Did he bring it half empty?Tonight I'm tanning this... think it's around £100 a bottle but my brother in law brought it up with him... only 59.7%
With the way my head feels he probably should haveDid he bring it half empty?
I must admit it’s probably been 10 years since I had a hangover but a whisky one was always the worst kind. With the way my head feels he probably should have
That's cask strength. Were you drinking it neat or did you put a good dose of water in it?With the way my head feels he probably should have

Had the first one neat but it's quite strong so added about a mill and a half from my pipette.. you really don't need a lot. Its quite smooth and salty and the water kind of brings out the smokiness ...had a few then finished with an ardbeg 10.

Seems to be. I finished a bottle of Lindores last weekend. Very tasty.Just had a taste of our friends at Eden Mill’s new whisky releases. They both quite young but very nice astute. The Bourbon cask is quite citrusy while the Sherry cask has hints of sticky toffee pudding.
Apparently they’ve not been distilling for a wee while, while they moved into a new building. The new place is now up and running and will be open to the public in August.
That part of Fife is getting a few good distilleries now.

I’ve been meaning to try that Lindores - I knew the guy who runs its’ brother. In fact I might even know the guy that runs it too. (If so he had a great punk record collection).Seems to be. I finished a bottle of Lindores last weekend. Very tasty.

Is Glen Marnoch the one from Aldi? I remember having an 18 year old. Hardly ever see it. Was something like 30 quid. Very nice. Saturday kitchen was bigging up Glen Marnoch on Burns Night. Excellent value. Will keep an eye out for the rum cask.I was given a box of 3 Glen Marnoch limited reserve miniatures - sherry cask, bourbon cask and rum cask finish. The first two were quite pleasant but the rum cask one is beautiful, tastes like a whisky/spiced rum crossbreed. Must have a look for it as a miniature is just too wee.
Aye it’s Aldi’s “own” brand but they’re vague about its origins, sometimes describing it as Highland, sometimes Speyside but the rum cask finish was most enjoyable - wherever it came from.Is Glen Marnoch the one from Aldi? So that's your afternoon sorted. What's for after tea? Finally bit the bullet and rejoined the SMWS. Gonna have to get my arse into town more to make it work.
Got this bad boy in my welcome box.
One couple admitted to investing - and losing - their life savings of £100,000 - must have been drinking the stuff when they did that.Deary me is nothing sacred from scam artists?...
Police are probing three Scotch whisky companies after hundreds of people were conned out of millions of pounds in schemes offering fantastical returns on investment in whisky casks.
Victims have been duped into investing tens of thousands of pounds into casks which do not exist, are overpriced or have been sold to multiple people, a BBC investigation found.
Some of those affected include NHS staff and a woman with terminal cancer.
I used to get them phoning me about investing in casks of whisky. I'd listen to their shite for a while then ask if they wanted to buy one of my distilleries for a bargain price.Deary me is nothing sacred from scam artists?...

I discussed buying a cask between some mates once. Not as an investment but to have our own private bottling.I used to get them phoning me about investing in casks of whisky. I'd listen to their shite for a while then ask if they wanted to buy one of my distilleries for a bargain price.
