Whisky

Just interested in this question.
If one opens a nice bottle of malt and it’s going down a treat, how long does it last you ?
I’ve seen me getting carried away , and only get two nights out of it 🫣.
What’s everybody else’s greediness or discipline like ?

And that’s probably with a wee glass of beer or two at the side 🫣

A bottle usually lasts me about a month - but with a really good one I have to discipline myself.

Two days max for me

I try to make one last a month. I don't drink whisky on school nights plus I really hate hangovers now. Particularly the crippling depression and self-loathing after a real bender and there ain't no hangover like a whisky hangover.
Usually have 5 bottles open at any one time: Highland, Lowland, Speyside, Islay and either a bourbon, Irish whiskey or a quality blend like Johnnie Black.
However given an evening on my own and Tom Waits back catalogue I could too easily tan half a bottle. Hence the need to rein it in.

Keep that up and you’ll sound like Tom Waits in the morning!

Be interested to try this but a bit steep for such a young whisky. Visited the distillery in 2022. It's just up the hill from Bunnahabhain and the coffee shop has stunning views of Jura.

Seems to be a bit of a rumour on the local social media in Cullen and Portsoy that their distillery Glenglassaugh is in a spot of financial difficulty and might close down. 😢

Nice to hear a bit about her w you all deal with the finer whiskies.

After years, I am bowing to my inner connoisseur and with my new found pensions and annuities income am facing the fact that another bottle of crap whisky means another sixpack of Duvel to my ven up the contest which ends up in a hangover worse than sancho can imagine

So bought a 70cl bottle of Glen Morangie but have already had 2 Duvels....

Will see how my selfcontrol self-controls over the next hour or two.

But practically: cost 39 euros. How does that stack up v price in Scotland?

The 12 year old is about £40 in the supermarket but frequently on offer for £28.
The Quinta Ruban Port Finish is an absolute banger but pricey.

I thought I heard recently that they weee either opening or revamping a visitor centre?

Rather fond of a Cardhu Gold Reserve. For everyday tippling, though, try a blend called Label (not Level!) Five. You can get it in Morrisons. Best-selling whisky in France, apparently, and £18 a litre last week.
Got this today (early birthday present ). £48 for £30 with the Tesco club card.

My latest acquisition. Whisky of the year in several polls. We'll see. Although technically it's whiskey. 😉

Got a bottle of abrachan from my wife from lidl of all places and I have to say I was quite surprised..has a nice smoothness with chocolate and coffee tastes...a really nice whiskey and well worth a try.. nicer than a black bottle (which I've just arsed) in my opinion.

Have you found any US malts yet?
Saw this last year in California but ended up buying some rare bourbons instead.

This may be controversial but I’ve always thought whisky had a horrible taste and couldn’t see why people liked it 🤷‍♂️
Give me a lovely glass of Rioja any day of the week, great taste, warming, feel good factor, what more do you need, as a opposed to a wee sip of whisky 🤮🤣
Rioja - oh my glass is about empty, love another one 👍
Or
Whisky - oh my glass is about empty, thank feck for that 🤣

There will be whisky lovers who think the same about wine - but there will be others who enjoy both, like me.
