What you're eating. What you're drinking. What you're watching?

I have avocado twice a week for lunch. It’s one of those superfoods that combats high cholesterol. I have one half of it mashed on a toasted wholemeal pitta bread with a drizzle of sriracha sauce and topped with either thinly sliced salmon or a mackerel fillet.

As for guacamole, I use a pestle and mortar to grind together fresh garlic and hot dried chillies and let it infuse with boiling water for a few minutes. I strain it into a bowl with an avocado, add the juice of a freshly squeezed lime and mash it all together. Then finish it off with some finely chopped tomato (not tinned) and chopped coriander.

Home made tomato soup, then gammon chips and peas and a bottle of Rose Prosseco.Watching some costume drama about Jane Austen's sister.

Intriguing. Can I ask you to clarify the straining bit - do you mean the chilli and garlic get left behind and the water they have infused is what you’re adding to the avocado?

I’ve never done that sort of thing, if I have understood you right I might have to give that a bash.

Aye, that's exactly what I do. The liquid is giving the guacamole a flavour kick and wee bit of heat

Just saw this @Beagle. Avocado are my go to fruit. Packed with healthy fat. Although I choose to eat at dairy free diet, if not would recommend to all to eat fat like butter which was demonised by big business US chemical, yes chemical companies in the 50's and 60's who produced margarine and paid untold $millions to bent 'scientists/medical' people to provide dodgy 'learned' papers correlating fats, like butter as bad for ones heart. The others that I body sway are grain oils, soy, corn, rapeseed and other so called Vegetable oils, which are produced in Chemical processes akin to the old BP at Grangemouth, high pressure, solvents, oxydisers etc. Getting an Avocado or handful of Olives and squeeze, that's oil. Cooking with cold pressed Coconut oil or, though for ethical reasons don't, lard or tallow for frying , sauteeing etc is very heart healthy. Processed and sugar added foods are the killers. You seem to me what Ive read on follow, a kind of Mediterranean diet mate. You won't go much wrong with that amigo. Don't forget the heart healthy vino redos, which you don't.
The original response was to say that whilst I admire your patience in all things avocado preparation I buy small tubs of smashed Avocado's with either garlic cloves in or with lime and peppers for a quid in Lidl in the Kirkgate.

I had my oily fish (mackerel) today with avocado and the drizzle of sriracha on a wholemeal pitta.

I also have a square of 85% dark chocolate and an apple every day between breakfast and lunch.

I tend to cook mainly with olive oil but I’ll use corn oil if I’m doing Mexican.

Tonight’s dinner is a green Thai chicken curry made by young Euphonium.

I admire your discipline regarding chocolate sir! I now only eat a square every weekend (about 6” square)

I've got another of the wee vultures staying over this weekend so it's sweety city here.

Well done the grandbairns I say.

I’m on the same statin B. I read that apples have the right chemical compounds to reduce cholesterol. Hence the old saying ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’
I used tae eat apples when I took a piece tae my work. The last few years I never took a lunch and finished earlier. Love my wee oranges though. I eat 4 or 5 daily.
