Israel

Naive is the opposite of jaded, I don't mind some idealism, it's not so much that folk don't know there's a climate crisis or humanitarian catastrophe, iwe even know the solutions, it's that people aren't doing much about it and if Attenborough and Greta help energise action fair play to them, if only govts really were trying to do something rather than sitting on their hands. Attention might shame them into it.

Shr has plenty time to work and have kids, she's a kid herself just now. I don't know why she cops so much flak tbh....compare to people who actually harm others and the world?
On the flak side I guess it's partly because she is a very effective communicator telling people what they don't want to hear.

I think she is popular because she tells people exactly what they want to hear. An alarmingly large constituency prefer to have the world's most complex problems reduced to pious and childish simplicity.

Bet she doesn't turn up in China bleating about fossil fueled factories.. or Somalia begging the locals to stop the fighting. She may be good for highlighting an issue, but she is no Mary Slessor, David Livingstone or Elsie Ingles

Don't know how true but labour have apparently admitted there are a limited number of IDF soldiers training in the UK. Disgusting if true

I'm confused, what do the bounce middle aged male right want of her? more protesting or less? 😉

There ain't much complicated about Gaza needs food and medicine cos folk are starving and not getting basic medical treatment 🫣

In that case what is the Greta world tour bringing to the table?

Come on R, she's like a less good Bono

Marginally more than us posting about it here - more media attention, no such thing as bad publicity, slow ratcheting of pressure on govts as all feed onto public perception 🙅

Yup and noone here is remotely qualified to preach about this to the world, although none of is is less qualified then she is.

She peddles simplistic to the point of deeply misleading views of world problems to fellow impressionable youngsters and, more surprisingly, to some older people too.

Its like a dumber version of populism, and im surprised to find you celebrating its actual characteristics.

Apparently she refused to watch the footage of October 7th events. She's taken to the world stage to promote a view of a conflict, the contents of which she willfully does not wish to understand.

Best leave her to the kids I think. I despair at adults seeking refuge in the childish because the world is too hard.

Naive is not the opposite of jaded btw. It can be the opposite of cynicism perhaps, but also, and more to the point here, the opposite of wise. Fucks sake she claims she somehow didn't know her crew mates included Hamas and Hezbollah enthusiasts. She's a vulnerable young person and she is being exploited: its likely not to her long term benefit.

The only interesting question about her is who is sponsoring her ?

It's the only country in the area that I'd chose to live in if forced. Currently it has a government i don’t like but then neither does most its own population.
You never answered the question, are Israel the good guys? And you have got the context of my original post wrong again.

Sadly it isn't a black & white situation, it's far more complex. Overall I think Israel are the good guys but their actions in Gaza are barbaric.

At what point are Israel held accountable here?

They are given a free reign to do whatever they want.

Israel have caused so many fucking problems in the last 30 years...and we just let them do what they wanna do.

Remember too that the first person to declare Saddam had nukes was...Malkowski(Netanyahu).

And we still haven't found them.

Same applies to Iran really, when I was a kid they were on the brink of making them....and still no further forward it would appear.

Professor Jeffrey Sachs has stated for decades there was a plan for 8 wars in Middle East...and Iran was going to be 8.

All due to Israel.

There's nae chance of that ever happening, just like there's nae chance of they murdering cvnts getting their day in court for their crimes.
If forced you know where you'd go. And yes there absolutely should be a reckoning for all perpetrators of war crimes. As you say it never happens. It's no longer fashionable to say so but folk should try and understand the threat Israel has been permanently facing even when their government were not "*&*^".

i'd take my chances in Turkey before Israel without doubt and almost anywhere else in the region if I were arab or muslim. you rightly state its complex so reducing this to which country you'd prefer to live in if forced largely dispenses with that complexity.....
