Pretty sure I saw some on the shelves at WoodWinters’s in BOFA when I was last in there. There’s also a blend called Campbeltown Loch which contains quite a lot of Springbank.
(There’s a WoodWinters out Newington Rd too btw)
Will it all be guzzled tonight?Tonight, Matthew, I am mostly drinking this, courtesy of the nice people at Masters of Malt. A 30 year old blended grain whisky. Very nice it is too. Slainte!

Think the label folk got the name and description mixed up...Tonight, Matthew, I am mostly drinking this, courtesy of the nice people at Masters of Malt. A 30 year old blended grain whisky. Very nice it is too. Slainte!

Aye, fair dos. Auld age doesn't come itself right enoughOnly one of each though (moderation). Gone are my days of Guinness, turbo shandies and whisky chasers followed by a KFC family bucket!
You need to practice more then. Eventually the hangover won't appear![]()
I do try but Mrs SB likes to remind me to stop after a few. That's probably the reason I'm still here right nowYou need to practice more then. Eventually the hangover won't appear![]()
Campbeltown is ok - my boy had a taste in the shop and liked it so I bought him a bottle ( his first whisky). It’s ok but there’s nicer whiskies for the price.Nice one thanks Bofa - have been in both a few times (used to work in Stirling) and never thought to give that a go - but makes sense. Recommend Campbeltown Loch? Good tune of course!
To be fair I’m needing to branch out; i tend to stick to:-Campbeltown is ok - my boy had a taste in the shop and liked it so I bought him a bottle ( his first whisky). It’s ok but there’s nicer whiskies for the price.
Try Aberlour 12 year old. Very moreish. £35 in Tesco just now with Clubcard.To be fair I’m needing to branch out; i tend to stick to:-
- Balvenie (few different ones);
- Glenfarclas 15 (tastes like Christmas cake);
- Bruichladdich Classic Laddie (don’t like the peaty ones) or Springbank 10 but haven’t had it for a while.
Had a few SMWS ones which are brilliant to be fair (need water with them) but one offs, Dalmore cigar malt and Cu Bocan are very nice too. Brother in law introduced me to Tamnavulin (there’s a few of them) which are incredibly cheap but pretty decent.
Missing my Springbank fix tho, so may well give the Campbeltown Loch a bash.

Glenfarclas 105 is amazing. Pretty much cask strength so goes further.
Bunnahabhain 12 is very nice too. Upeated Islay malt.
Bladnoch Vinaya is an outstanding lowland malt. Non chill-filtered and natural colour.
Glenfarclas is one of the only independent family owned distilleries left. Love their whiskies.My Dad was a Glenfarclas drinker. I have a bottle of the 15 on the go just now.
Deanston is good value if you can get it when it’s on offer at the supermarket .

Lager and Smirnoff IceWhat's a turbo shandy? I've never heard of it.
It’s a fine dramSaw Deanston in Tesco today. £35, not on offer. Bought the Glenlivet Founder's Reserve at £25 instead.

I'm looking forward to it.. we do 3 every month. These were my choices..ill need to do a wee presentation on the zoom call but I'm absolutely hammered with a viral infection and today I've got a vomiting bug from my daughter... happy days
Mincemeat pies and whisky is a match made in heaven. Love this time of year!

I'm getting a bottle of Glenmorangie for my Christmas. I know, because I bought it.This evening, Glenmorangie and ALDI's finest mince pies whilst watching Slow Horses.
Superb choice!
Uigeadail needs water in it to really open it up as it's much higher ABV than the 10. It was voted best whisky in the world a few years ago. The 5 year old Wee Beastie is very moreish. Very young for a whisky and quite phenolic but excellent value for money.Last night I tried ardberg 10....very very smokey but I really enjoyed it.. tonight I'm drinking ardberg oogadal..its nice but quite strong with a slight smokey taste..I much prefer the 10
Thank you for making me look up 'phenol', been meaning to for decades!Uigeadail needs water in it to really open it up as it's much higher ABV than the 10.
