Cannae find anything online about that brand BK.
Nope me neither...weirdCannae find anything online about that brand BK.
The 8 seems to have replaced the 16 as the standard release. The 16 is well over £70 a pop now. I've got the Distiller's Edition and the Offerman 11 year old rum cask finish. Lag 16 is probably still the king of whiskies IMHO. And in that of Ron Swanson too.Tonight I shall be trying the lagavulin 8...I have the lagavulin 16 for Christmas eve but I've been told to try the 8 first
It won a gold medal 2024 at the CWSA, China Wine and Spirit Awards made by a company called Lin Zhuahou or something like that. Only that site I could find anything about it but none for sale.Perhaps those more into whisky than me could shed some light on what the hell I'm drinking. Just finished a Suntory so was browsing for another Japanese one when I was accosted by the sales assistant and told this (see photo) was "very special" Chinese but what the hell I'll drink anything once. Anyway its nothing special. Tried to find it on google and there's nothing. Same with chat GPT
Any ideas?
I'm starting to think the folk in the shop are flogging some obscure stuff with homemade labels![]()

I tried Haig Club once at an airport. I thought the bottle was quite large for an aftershaveThe last couple of years I have taken more interest in whisky. Where they are made , and what methods are used. But, most importantly, how they taste.
Just wondering what other folks favs are, and how you take it , and recommendations .
My faviroutes just now are
Blends. Haig Club has a lovely vanilla twist , take it with a splash of water.
Malt , changes all the time but just now I would say Jura 12 year old, again just a splash of water
Irish whisky , Tullamore Dew, just with a block of ice , very sweet and smooth , highly recommended if your looking for something different .
The American bourbons , I've not tried many , but they are all much the same to me, and really need to be drunk with cola.
I'm not a big fan of the strong peaty ones , smell a bit " medical" but I do buy the odd bottle just so I have one in my small collection , and I do manage a few drams now and then
So, give me a reason to buy another few bottles![]()
I don’t like anything too peaty (it’s like drinking TCP).
Current favourites are Bhunnahabhain and Tamnavulin.![]()
That's the spiritI have the same issue with whisky that I do with red wine.
Even a glass that I don't initially really like, I find that after a couple more it's actually quite alright.

I had it years ago and all I thought was that it was peaty as you say but sounds excellent. I like paint stripper anyhoo! Will report findings once secured.I love the smell and smokiness of the 10...its just smooth and nice to drink...íve now had a few of the wee Beastie and again it's just smooth a wee bit smokey and a bit spicey and just all round lovely... wife thinks it smells like paint stripper .... just try it
That’s the business, tastes like Christmas cake! Enjoy!!
Nice!
I'll let you know once I've opened it. Got a couple of nearly empty bottles to kill first. What's it like.. ive had to put away my ardbeg as I've almost arsed half a bottle since yesterday... ive moved onto pedro ximenez sherry that i bought from the port o leith distillery .... never been a sherry fan but i like this...it tastes like Christmas pudding or something.
My favourite tipple
That’s a beautiful dram
Very easily tucked away! It was a lovely drop and as you say, the staff and surroundings were excellent.A few us were down at The Vaults SMWS before the game yesterday and I have say the guys there were brilliant. We had some ‘colours’ on though relatively subtle and they weren’t the least bit bothered, in fact we had a some good Hibs chat with them.
Highly recommend ‘A Tasty Proposition’; a nice Speyside number easily tucked away by the 5 of us before the game!![]()
Tonight I've had the ardnamurchan AD... really liked it.. im currently trying the clynelish 14 ...its nice but theres a lot going on in that glass.. after that I'll try the inchmoan 12.... then I might have a wee Beastie before bed...its club night on zoom so at least I'm not trying it alone.
Dalmore is very nice but like Macallan it's massively overpriced these days.I got a bottle of Dalmore 15 and Glengoyne 10 for my Christmas. The Dalmore is cracking but not cheap- indeed I remember paying a fair bit less for the 18 not that long ago.
