Made a Chicken Jalfrezi from scratch, (garlic, red onions, chicken thighs, various shades of peppers including 4 pimiento padrons, garam masala, chillies, tinned tomatoes, dash of coriander and cumin, salt and pepper). I use my late Nana's slow cooker, which is around over 40 years old to slow cook it over the afternoon. Served with Onion Bhajis, Garlic and Coriander Naan and Poppadoms, with various pickles. Aldi do a Bottle of Spanish Verdejo, called Saludo for under a fiver, mental in Scotland, which is magic chilled and drank when cooking, although I will eat my Ruby accompanied by a bottle or two of Marton's English Pale Ale, a personal fave. Music is provided by the magnificent Magic Soul DAB radio station.

This Evening?Veg soup, then spaghetti bolognese,then a half a melon.What was on telly?Can't remember Antique's Roadshow?

BLT, and a slice of malt loaf, the slice was about 3/4, buttered off course. Tea and lime cordial iced water.

Lamb koftas, flatbreads, salad, chilli sauce, washed down with couple of cans of Goose IPA

Think I might stay wi' you next time I come up , sounds bloody lovely

Veggie chili with some yellow stuff that looked like mashed tattie (palenta), it wisnae bad.

I am now having cheese on toast with a dash off worcester sauce and a packet of nice biscuits.

Home made pizza: spicy tomato with spinach and olives. Served with a couple of cold new tatties, some slightly strange hake & prawn stuffed peppers (a Lidl offer), broccoli plus salad with own made olive oil/balsamic/garlic dressing. Very decent. All the better being washed down by my favourite beer, Williams' Caesar Augustus. Might have whet my appetite with a cheeky Scottish gin and tonic too. A Sunday treat, probably enough in the bottle (at the mo, and it's 10 to midnight) to extend the joy into Monday...

Listening to the radio and reflecting on my itchy feet. That's at least an annual occurrence, if anything delayed a little by lockdown. Really crave a few nights wild camping (and I know where) tho I'd settle for a fortnight in Sicily or Paris.

One day my friends, one day.

I’ve always wanted to go to Sicily, and plan to next year hopefully - any top tips?

It's a great place! A fuckin madhouse but great.

You might be well up on your Sicilian knowledge; if not, well worth doing a bit of research before you go (not sure asking me counts). For starters, it's a big place, bigger than Wales, or three Cypruses and with a population the same as Scotland's. It's got its own language (tho everyone speaks Italian), occasional aspirations to national sovereignty and a suitably rich, complex history and present.

I loved it. Only saw a fraction, didn't touch the western coast and loads of major things/places yet to see and do. It's action-tastic if you're into that; the coast, the volcanic islands, big active unpredictable Mt Etna, and the national parks are wild and magnificent. Lots of snakes!

I went in July and believe me it was properly hot. Don't move anywhere without a sunhat and plenty water, mindful that if you're in the sticks everything shuts for about 4 hours in the middle of the day.

My highlights included the Greek ruins at Agrigento - incredible, what a league that must have been - the volcanic mud baths on Lipari, the mummified corpses in Palermo (it's a weird monastic museum, not a Mafia thing - I think), getting pinned down by a torrential thunder storm on the valley floor in the Pantilica park (snakes for company; oh, and the girlfriend) and the war cemeteries at Syracuse. I had family at the 1943 landings, by chance I was there on the same date as the invasion (9 July). Very moving, I was there a long time and I gret.

Tell folk you're a a Scot! Got a few free coffees out of that, although there was one unfortunate occasion when the patron refused point blank to accept that Scotland was not part of England!

With a nod to the topic of this thread, the food is pretty decent too. The seafood is excellent (although one restaurant, a bit too close for comfort to the corruption and glamour boats in a gated harbour) was painfully expensive. They do something great with aubergines, forget its name, and the citrus fruit is good too. Some tasty cheeses, the traditional pecorino is delicious; only downside was a police sniffer dog attacking the bag, resulting in me getting some special time with the drugs cops. All turned out well, the Scottish card worked a treat. And to be clear, I had no drugs with me, it was cheese, and I swear that money was simply resting in my account.

That's my experience anyway. I hope you get there, and that you enjoy it.

Nachos with hunners of jalapenos, cloudy Strongbow with a nice malbec flesh pudding, watching Killing eve.

I had Sweet Chilli Chicken Thighs, Coleslaw and Salad, washed down with Lemon Diluting Juice and watched a recorded espisode on the Marigold Hotel thing. Brown toast, vegemite (yes it's back on the shelves at Morrisons) with a slice of cheese on top, and strong Sumatran/ Javan coffee from Aldi. Time get my teeth into flipping audits that are being done on my team and projects, talk about timing.

Made tapas and ate them in the garden with wife and sons. 3 types of Calamari, albóndigas, patatas bravas, scampi, crusty bread and alioli. Glass of Shiraz and random tunes on through my phone. Ace.
