Apparently he and his cabinet have been urged to leave by EU and UK, seems he may stay until the end currently. You just know if Russia captures him he is getting "disappeared" straight away.

I wonder if, like 1939, there’s a certain inevitability about events. It just seems mental that a sovereign state thinks a war is a solution. That really would have kicked off WW3.
I dare say a lot will hinge on if the west reacts with military forces to repel Russia. Putin knows The most the west can do at present is the economic sanctions because Ukraine wasn’t yet a NATO member. Go in with all guns blazing in defence of Ukraine and it’s kiss your arse goodbye because it’ll will go nuclear. Different matter if Russia attacks a NATO aligned state. I don’t think Putin is mad enough for that as he knows NATO must respond in kind. He’s more likely to subvert the west leaning democracies in the former Warsaw Pact nations that are now NATO members hoping this in turn will lead to those countries rejecting the west and reverting to pre 1991 governmentsI wonder if, like 1939, there’s a certain inevitability about events. Not going to happen, too many people there have tremendous pride in being Ukranian.Think Ukraine should tell its people and troops to head to the borders, save lives and save your pride for another day.
As would I, like being a Scotsman, part of you always. just such a shame at the loss of life because of some madmanNot going to happen, too many people there have tremendous pride in being Ukranian.
They actually have as big an army as Russia but not the sand air power. The shittiest thing is they gave up their nuclear weapons in return for security guarantees which are if course meaningless now. So no country will ever give up their nuclear weapons againI wonder if, like 1939, there’s a certain inevitability about events. That's the bit I never understood. No way should they have given up the ultimate deterrent given their history with Russia. They actually have as big an army as Russia but not the sand air power. The shittiest thing is they gave up their nuclear weapons in return for security guarantees which are if course meaningless now. So no country will ever give up their nuclear weapons again

Dunno He said Zelenski was welcomeUs bloody Trotskyiests sueing for peace.I notice Putin had a go at us bloody Bolsheviks for 'inventing' the Ukraine in the first place (maybe it was down to the fact that Trotsky was a Ukrainian Jew).As for sanctions;sanctions are an economic form of warfair aimed not;where everyone hopes at Putin;but at the poor in Russia.Look at recent Russian history, the people got rid of the Tsar ,the people got rid of Kornilov, got rid or Kerensky, got rid of Gorbachev and Yeltsin, and it will be the Russian people who get rid of Putin.Meanwhile will the West say 'Ukrainians are Welcome Here' we'd say yes ,I dare say Sturegeon'll say 'Yes' but will Starmer? Will Boris?
Apparently thousands of Russians on the streets at the minute over a thousand arrested so far but the mood isn't great in the country towards dictator Putin. How depressing . It's that bad, it's not worth worrying about, and I'm born to worry about shit.
On a positive note, I think the only hope we have to avoid a long drawn out nightmare, is that the Russian public itself may convince the Russians to think again.
I hope uefa is planning to boot Russian clubs out of euro competitions and the nations team out of the World Cup play off.
Putin is a megalomaniac more concerned about leaving some historical legacy of righting what he perceived as wrongs in the break up of the Soviet Union.
However, the west is culpable. It was a huge error at the instigation of the USA for NATO to give membership to ex Warsaw Pact members. Ukraine was obviously a line in the sand. The whole situation isn't black and white with lots of historical legacies etc, etc.
The scenes in Ukraine are horrendous. Nobody in the world should be subjected to such fear inflicted.
I'd say though that Russia hasn't progressed as they'd have expected? Perhaps they'll find it much tougher to put in place some puppet regime in Kiev than they expected...
Putting down nazism in Ukraine? CrackpotsSergei lavrov speaking at the moment , putting russias viewpoint across![]()

Imperialist hypocrisy and the invasion of Ukraine | The Communist
Vladimir Putin shocked the world this morning by launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Despite many ‘strong’ words, Western leaders have been exposed as impotent. Only revolutionary class struggle can end the horrors of capitalism and war.www.socialist.net

Thanks for that concise critique slightly longer than the standard "what a lot of bollox" only just mind you!Fuckin hell G, you read some shite
F1 has been cancelled.Agreed.
Uefa have made a start by moving the Champions League final from Russia. Next step would be to ban their clubs from European competition and ban their national team, they should also be cutting ties with Gazprom.
I see Sebastian Vettel has said he won’t compete if the Russian Grand Prix goes ahead, F1 should follow Urfa’s lead and move the race.
It's even gone so much further...Russia have been locked out the eurovision song contest...wow these sanctions are going to hurtF1 has been cancelled.
