Rumour.

Shocking absolutely shocking

I'm not shocked, not even close to it.

This was always gonna be the case, I said at the start of the window it had felt like no forward planning was done.

We've just stumbled into it.

Hibs went over budget last summer....signing 12 players in the process.
This is the reason why (a) the squad is bloated, (b) we are desperately trying to get rid of as many as we can this month, and (c) we haven't got a pot to piss in.
The manager is now emphasising the need for yet further reductions in the squad and has mentioned promoting players from the youth academy which is what I think we will now do.
As I have said earlier on, we are paying the price for the last two summer transfer windows both in results and performances so far this season, and also the lack of any badly needed new players of some experience and quality in January. Johnson admittedly has been unlucky in that several key players yet again have sustained long term injuries, but the almighty mess of our last two summer recruitment campaigns is coming home to roost and he will be made the fall guy for it eventually. He's not blameless by any means, but the way things have been done at a higher level than him on the football side of things has just made his job even more difficult than it already was.

Not only did we go over budget, we managed to do it by paying out inflated wages for below par signings.
I can sympathise with some of the established players feeling undervalued when they see absolute dross needing wheelbarrows to take home their pay.
Ron vowed to up the wages here, and he has. But to the wrong signings.
He now understands that old Peruvian saying, “Ye cannae polish a fuckin turd”.

I thought it was buying Squirrel back that properly blew the budget ?

That’s your opinion but it isn’t mine.

Yeah but I asked what your opinion was?

You actually think Lewis Stevenson is deadwood?
I know we've done this alot, but thats up there with the more outrageous shit mate.

Deadwood players at Hibs, so far, on current evidence this season (some gone or going)
Miller, Fish, Bojang, Tavares, Mitchell, McLelland and arguably McKirdy, Melkersen and JDH.
McLelland gets the benefit of being on loan, but he's not really got alot of appearances in a low end champion team.

They don't belong in that company.

Wouldn’t say I’m surprised just frustrated at the lack of incoming players. But was always going to be the case after the volume of below par players arriving in the previous 2 windows.

Hibs were definitely spinning this as a good thing at the time “who wants another one?” while announcing garbage like Bojang. And to be fair we all lapped it up.

Hope they’ve learned their lesson and it’s quality over quantity under this new DoF whenever he materialises.

He struggled against the Gunts, him and Hanlon, Hanlon gave up and Lewis couldn’t keep up with the Gunt. He was beat for pace a few times last week also, for the players I mentioned I want better up grades than them. But as I said just my opinion.

Christ you are as bad as each other.

Miller - Been injured, not really had a chance.
Fish - Agree
Bojang - Gone
Tavares - Agree
Mitchell - Agree
McLelland absolutely disagree, was brought in for the laddies team
McKirdy - Never been given a chance, when he has its either been against the gorgie pigs or Celtc. He looked good other times when he was given half an hour plus.
Melkersen - Bought in for the laddies team, bummed up by the dafties at the club.
JDH - Been injured all season FFS.

My worry is that we are removing some of the dross, but nothing incoming means we are stuck where we are.

It's a big worry.
Said a while back we've given up this season, we'll get rid of what's not worked and give the DoF Carte Blanche to fix the barebones.

Nothing other than an immediate stop gap to plug a while til the seasons over.

2 or 3 desperate loans in the past days.
LJ either gets rocketed soon and we limp to the summer banking on avoiding the playoff or he survives til the summer in the same manner.

DoF expected to turn us around assessing the final months of this season and miracle work in the summer is a big ask I think.

Bizarre is how I'd describe it. We're totally inconsistent and the plan is to cut a quarter of the squad. OK if there are a couple of decent ones coming in. Whether you like Lee or not he's been dealt a crap hand. Changing manager will change what exactly. Few,if any of the signings were his so punting him for the clubs poor recruitment is the answer.Que.
Hugely frustrating especially when 4th won't take much winning IMHO. Just get a couple of seasoned spl players and we can have a good season. This is the poorest spl,bar celtic, for possibly a decade.

Doubt it's as bad as that but we're making a pigs ear of it that's for sure.

That's why on current evidence, I'm all for anyone getting a chance to turn it around, but the point is head to head all of them vs Lewis Stevenson I know who I'm picking. They're all just players mentioned for the chopping block here and elsewhere. Didn't see the point in running through the whole team. McLelland probably hasn't been mentioned but I looked him up today hoping to see something good coming back to us and he's well down the road presently.

What do you mean, good or bad?

Just that Cove are struggling and he's not getting much game time.
Does have an assist in his limited showings, but won't be back ready to play in the first team. Hoped he would be.

I never did. he is another one for the kids team.

Baffling is what I'd call this window, to go into a Derby weaker than we where at the PBS is just baffling.

Thats fair, but I thought loans were for players nearing the first team.
Just a misunderstanding of where he is in his development.

He was a development player at the Huns. He is still a development player. Pity he isnae getting a game at that tramp Hartley's team.

McClelland looked promising during the preseason games. And at least he's our player to develop. Rather him be given game time than an inspiring player that isn't ours.
Fair point.

We could* play him in midfield.

*probably fuckin would

Could be a pile of shite but there are seemingly a few people saying on social media that we have signed a midfielder, sorry no names.

Suppose we will find out tomorrow if it’s true or not.

There may be reasons, I have not followed his progress. @Jack K ?
He did well at Cove but sustained a bad injury and returned to Hibs for a couple of months treatment.
Recently resumed his loan spell but I've not checked his progress.
