.Good one Matty. I find myself agreeing more and more with original Ian, 3 things specifically....Gray doesn't improve players, I'll add he probably worsens a few by keeping them out the squad/team/starters.
He must start Klidje.
Need at least a two goal lead from the first leg, probably more, which I'm already doubting after seeing his interview focussing on a clean sheet.
 
Just wondering if everyone that played "Long bangers" all played with the same rules. Basically just a short pitch, usually two jackets for posts and you were only allowed two touches?
 
Hibs take a 2-1 lead to North Macedonia after the win last night, but did the performance leave a lot to be desired? Fan reaction certainly suggested so - is that harsh? Plus a look ahead to a crunch game at Ibrox on Sunday.

I love the Podcast but can't listen when there's all these faces and voices. With respect there's a lot of slavering.... Matty does a fantastic job but this version/edition of the Podcast for me undermines their brand. The main Podcast with Matty plus one or two is one of substance that's thought provoking. Matty will know his audience and reach of each version though so respect to him. For me I'll continue just with the main episodes. 💚

I've got to agree 100% with you after listening to every phone in last season.

Joe:

"That performance in Serbia has to go down as one of the greatest results since following Hibs from 1961". Seriously Joe we've beaten far bigger & better teams in Europe in the last 65 years.

He's the only Hibs fan that has referred on a few occasions "We've Hibsd It"

"Josh Mulligan has a £1million buy out clause in his contract"

And his favourite topic every fkn week, Zinedine Levitt 🤯

Jack:

"I would give them as many tickets as they want, money is better in Hibs pocket than having empty seats"

Matty asked everyone else. They all replied " Give them fuck all or as little as possible.
Jack then said "Can I change my answer to what everyone else said.

Jack, "I would change the midfield"
Matty " Who would you change"
Jack " Eh I'm not sure"

Matty "What did you think about this week's team"
Jack "I'm glad they changed it from last week"
Matty " It was the same team nothing was changed"

Interrupts others while they are talking on the podcast.
Alex Cropley was a good looking guy. I was at a party and in came Alex Cropley. He was dating my cousin at the time.
Parkhead playing surface is 50% bigger than San Siro.

I used to like listening to Ian at the start but when you hear his 💩 every week you say to yourself, what the FK is all this to do with Hibs.

Every other caller wants to talk solely about Hibs, no the ORIGINAL.

Me thinks that is why Matty changed the format for this year, instead of the previous free for all.

Still a great podcast Matty & in fitbaw terms it has to be the best named podcast out there.

cheers, it’s not for everybody, I guess - which is fine.
I do try and find a format that works for it, I don’t have a show without the guys that phone in and evidently some of them really enjoy being able to join in and talk Hibs.

I am always really conscious that we’re all Hibs fans, I try not to give my opinion on the phone in as much as possible, I have plenty other opportunities to have my say but I do believe that everyone that phones in has an opinion that’s every bit as valid as mine, even if I really disagree with them.

Where there are blatantly incorrect things said, I will try and correct it but really, the phone in is to give folk the chance to join in.

I get a lot of offers/requests to come on the regular show, and it’s not possible to accommodate everyone (and to be honest, I don’t really want to change that one too much), so the phone is a good way to get folk involved.

But I accept it’ll not be everyone’s cup of tea - same goes for the rest of the episodes to be fair, plenty folk think they’re shite as well! 😂

Meant to reply to this earlier - two touches was normal rules for us.

We had another game called one-a-touchy, which was when you had a goal on a wall and you’d take turns shooting and you had to hit the target shooting first time wherever the ball rebounded off the goal/wall to. Anyone play that out similar?

Yes we aren't the only team it happens to. But it happens to us more often than others.

It's one of the few things John seems to have an opinion on :happiness-1: For a lot of the topics raised John's opinion is that he doesn't have an opinion - but then goes on to use about 100 words to say he doesn't have anything to say :lollol

Have to agree with you about Original Ian, He doesn't just blow his own trumpet, he's the entire orchestra. He seemed genuinely surprised that David Gray didn't take him up on his striker coach advice. He also seems to get more "air time" than the other contributors but it's probably difficult to shut him down.

Still the best Hibs podcast by far and having a real tactics analyst on was a great listen.

Jack, Ian, original Ian and to an extent John. 4 who, if you let them could drive you mad. Best just to chill and enjoy the different views with a wee smile where necessary. Really good Matty....love your work 👍

These are really good. Craig does a great job of not only of covering individual players strengths and weaknesses but also explaining how they cohere together (or not) and what could be tweaked. Very balanced in explaining what Gray is trying to achieve whilst still having a degree of realism that the recent success is built on slightly fragile foundations as games could have gone either way.

Thanks - we had a few technical issues on the live feed so the episode probably wasn’t as slick as we’d have liked but I think you’re spot on with Craig.
We’ve always steered clear of trying to talk tactics at that level, basically because I’m an idiot and don’t know what I’m talking about, so I am really enjoying getting educated about what’s going on.

Good to see the much maligned tactics board making a comeback after the Nancy era as well.
 
Far too confusing for me but appreciate the info.
A genuine question I promise and not a dig in any way. Does being so aware of tactics actually enhance anyone's enjoyment of the game?
Probably just give me more to be frustrated at 🤣🤣🤣

For me it's a bit like literature or film studies. Understanding tactics gives the story / plot more depth. There is a risk though that you start seeing / imagining things that the author (or manager) never even intended.
