Surely we can't play with only one up top v Morton?
Spot on SirIf the new signings don't contribute a hell of a lot more than they have been doing, then we will be playing with one up top, and a team of about nine. we're not playing as a team just now, just a bunch of error prone individuals with a couple of hide and seek champions who would have given Osama Bin Laden a real challenge in his heyday.
If he starts the same centre half pairing that shipped 6 goals he really has lost the plot!Rocky (obviously )
SDG ( leadership )
Daz (atonement )
Hanlon ( atonement )
Lewis ( 80%fit is still better )
We don’t have a holding mid , so go for the jugular Ps ram yer minutes
Maxwell ( needs minutes )
Whittaker ( James isny fit )
Mackie ( James isny fit )
(High pressing from the start)
I hope so, we need them to. I don’t think the tactics necessarily help any of the new lads in midfield or up front.Still confident the new guys will come good. Sometimes it takes a while for new players to settle at a new club in a new league and in a new country. Still very early days...only two league games played.
If we had a proper defensive holding midfielder to protect the back four it would be much easier, but we don't. This should be our priority before the end of the window but I think one or two players will be moving on to accommodate this.If he starts the same centre half pairing that shipped 6 goals he really has lost the plot!
If we had a better balance in our midfield which would actually get the best out of a player like Mallan (our top goalscorer last season who has the ability to hurt teams when played in an attacking role) life would be so much easier, but we don;t. You need a balance of hard working grafters and cultured creative players and pace in a midfield. We still don;t have that balance. Still a few weeks to go though.Would be giving Mallan a rest and will have a think about rest of team
I don’t think we need a holding midfielder unless we are going to persist with a variant of 433.If we had a proper defensive holding midfielder to protect the back four it would be much easier, but we don't. If we were actually set up to play on the front foot, pressing high up the pitch, there’s no need for one. Think back to the system Lennon used with McGeouch/McGinn/Allan in midfield, no holding player but all capable of winning the ball back quickly.
I think if we actually pressed high and quickly, we’d see more from Mallan/Vela/Slivka.
Yeah that’s true but equally you don’t really need one in a 442 either, which we do have the players to set up that way.I don’t think you can play a holding midfielder with 3-5-2, you end up with a real back 6.
i hate to say this, but maybe the answer would be to go 3-5-2. hecky won’t though. He’s going to stick with 4-3-3
I don't understand the anti-Mallan vibes on here, and much more so on other Hibs sites/pages. Getting voted fans player, and players player of the year last season must indicate that he's pretty decent? Or despite the old saying, he did fool all of the people all of the time. But just last season.I see calls to drop Mallan. I disagree, the issue is he is having to sit so deep it doesn’t bring the best of his game to us. Vela needs to show he is the defensive midfielder we were looking for or we find another. Our midfield has been over ran the last 2 games.
