Whisky

Been a wee bit out the loop, bizarrely I’d just decided to crack open a new bottle that I’d got for my sisters birthday before deciding it’s too nice for her and she’s already got plenty 😂
Not a distillery I’m aware of but comes highly recommended from the salesman at Fine Wine in Portobello. Dailuaine 17 Oloroso Sherry Cask. Cask strength so I’ll sleep soundly tonight!

Looks awesome. Dailuaine is a great distillery. Signatory bottlings are always quality. Enjoy!

Labour getting their knickers in a twist because Trump called Swinney tae discuss nae tariffs on whisky.

Time for a wee pre-prandial apéritif and am indulging myself with the dregs of a bottle of Talisker Port Ruigh which I only recently discovered means Portree as in The Kid 😉

Can't access the reply toolbar here today (greyed out @Jamie ) so will attempt an attach file for the label pic...

Portree (Port Ruigh) I believe means ‘The King’s Port’

Is it really that colour or is it a red bottle?

How was it?

My current favourite distillery. All the expressions I've tried are delicious. All non-chill filtered and natural colouring.

I know it's been asked before but what is the obsession with chocolate again? Or is that just 'la table Sancho'?

I got sacked in (oo-er) by a Speyside furry change. Liking the look of the 12 yr old but trying the cheaper 10 yr variant first 'tobe sure' 😀

It's for the benefit of @emerald green who chastises me if there is a lack of chocolate in the photo. 🤣
Benriach is lovely, by the way.
Arran is classified as an Island malt, which is an unofficial sub-set of Highland. Islay is a whole region on its own.

Now on Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair. Entry level Bunnahabhain. No age statement but non chill filtered. Better than most supermarket whiskies. Another favourite distillery. Islay but unpeated.

Proud Of You Yes GIF

Is an Arran an island malt? Or are there just islay malts? Never quite sure on the regions thing and fri ain't Google night!
I spent a few days in (on) Arran just over a week ago.
Loved it.
Just came back with a few cheeses rather than whisky though.

Hope to be cheesing tomorrow.

If not for you, the fact that unpeated Islay whisky existed would have passed me by but that’s now one of my all-time favourites.

Hope you’re doing well BTH. Bunnahabhain has been my favorite single malt for years. I can’t believe I used to drink Laphroaig and enjoy it. The yanks and Armenians go for the very expensive Johnnie Walker Blue Label, which is nice but I always try to steer them towards the Bunnahabhain.

In fact, I’m going to have a dram of the Bunnahabhain now!!

Enjoy! I wish I could get one of the nurses to bring me one now. I used to like Laphroaig too but would avoid it nowadays. Never tried any Johnnie Walker.

I am currently in the glenallachie distillery and frankly im pissed... had the distilleries editions 17 13 and meikle toier.... and the 18.... have to say they are fucking lovely. We're buying the meikle toir for tonight at 76 quid then we will buy the spirit of speyside for the club at 200 and something.... if you haven't visited then your missing out.

My last visit to a distillery was in 95 at Dalwhinnie. Several of us sampled a little too much that day.

Stopped in a year later on the way to Inverness where the staff recognised us and promptly showed us photo's they'd taken of us sitting pished in a corner

sounds like a good day out - note to self: check it out. If you nip on, you might catch Glenfarclas before it closes.

Had the 15 year old. It's fantastic. On a par with the Glenfarclas 15.
