Tv series

No so much a telly series but it's a cracking documentary about the corrupt New York cop Michael Dowd....

In the 1980s, Brooklyn, New York was suffering from a crack epidemic.

Michael Dowd worked in the NYPD's 75th Precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn, which was considered to be one of the most dangerous precincts in the United States at the time.

The gangster in the documentary (all real footage) says that Mike was pure gangster.

Gie it a watch. Methinks yous true crime bods will enjoy it.

Masters of the Air - it's been mentioned on this thread before. I'm kind of into it but it lacks something that these epic military tales usually provide. I think it's because there's no journey. Usually you get a bunch of soldiers going behind enemy lines, or on a mission that takes them different places. A quest basically which allows the characters to develop and their relationships to be formed by the adversity of a series of situations. With Masters, it's just them getting in a plane then coming back successful or not then repeat with some changes.
The captured / behind enemy lines stories have become more interesting than the rest of it.

Also watching The Push, watched first ep last night. Well made, slightly harrowing but some really interesting stuff around social/cultural integration and great shots of Edinburgh.
Masters of the Air should have been based on The Battle of Britain, but the Americans weren’t involved then so unlikely they’d make a series not including them, but it’s obviously the most ‘exciting’ air battle of that war? Focusing on the Polish/Kiwi volunteer fighters could have been good. Masters could be getting better now POW/ African American fighter pilots are involved.

Off the back of that show I started Band of Brothers again, it’s the best by likes of that trilogy. Also mad how many actors started in that show and are now stars.

I agree, however Masters of the Air is a decent if slightly harrowing watch.

Ooooo a Billyesque pun type thingy. It's a good episode but that scene with the fish wisnae needed.

Going to give the gentlemen a shot on Netflix

Looking forward to fallout on amazon next month!

I started to watch The Gentlemen but got a bit bored by it to be honest.

I watched The Gentleman over the last couple of days. It's a mini-series based on a film . Basic story, a duke dies and leaves his estate to his son who then discovers that his dad was renting space to a massive weed-growing criminal family. There's more to it than that obviously and it's a decent watch. It's billed as a comedy and it does have some humorous moments in it but I'd say it's more drama than comedy.

Watched the first 4 episodes tonight.
As Dub said its a drama, but it is comedic in a gory kind of way.

I've been binge watching "Crime" over the last few days. Is the police station the old BT offices at the top of the Grassmarket near Bread st?

I got it on the firestick. Aye there's no chance it would get shown without it being either censored or trigger warnings.

Aye watched it Stu. Unfortunately a third series looks unlikely because some of the actors are contracted to other work.

Have you watched Darklands? Virgin Media's attempt at an Irish gangland show.

Only one series for made though.

I'm working my way through Trial and Retribution, the follow up to Prime Suspect. British tv's good at producing good, believable, crime series.

Chernobyl was brilliant.
There are a few different ones, but the one i watched was just called “chernobyl” and was an 8 part series i think
