Of course there's no virtue signalling to be had in the grauniad or politicians trying to alleviate the shithole schemes folk live in.....

Anybody caught the survival series 'Alone' at all? Not originating recently but showing now is the first series set in Northwest Territories, Canada. There are other series set on Vancouver Island and elsewhere.

Quite enjoying it, it's ineresting to see how quickly the spirit of the contestants seemed absolutely crushed, even after about three days or so for some of them in that environment. No how genuine their isolation is {they record events into a camera they take with them). Naturally, the programme makers want to make as much of the bear activity and the inherant danger from that angle, with dramatic music and scene building. One actual sighting of a black bear as far as I can see on beach a couple of hundred yards away (quite close enough!). Noises outside the tent in the night and so on I thought unlikely...then I remembered I've been in exactly that position myself a few years back camping for the first time in Canada! For their own good, I hope there's a crew member with a gun not too far away, although that doesn't seem particularly not fair being in their own territory.

Just watching series 1 ep 5 and Autumn/Fall appears to have occurred overnight. Contestants mostly miserable! I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time. :giggley:

'Mother nature has chewed me up and spat me out'.

Watched a show called Trust Me about a nurse who leaves her job in England to become a Doctor in Edinburgh. Very good but the title leaves a bitter taste after the baby killer said much the same thing.

I watched Painkiller which is a very stylised version of the story of the company behind the opioid epidemic in the US and the DEA investigation into it’s activities. It’s good - makes you outraged.

I then watched Dopesick which is exactly the same story told in a more conventional way with Michael Keaton as a Doctor who gets hooked on OxyContin. It’s very good.

Both series made so angry at the way American companies operate.

I'm shotgunning my way through Warrior at the moment. The fight scene coordinator must be working 30 hours a day to fulfill the remit.

Watched this last night. The Slab Boys technically it IS a part of a TV series

have watched all the alone series as i do enjoy a bit of camping and wilderness living - the best ones for me are seasons 6-7 in the NW territories - some great participants including some amazing women, like watching the different approaches and philosophies to survival and shouting at the tv when they're doing it all wrong from the comfort of my sofa.

Just finished the last series of Top Boy last night.

Was a no a bad bit of telly

Anyone watched Silo? Silo (TV series) - Wikipedia

Base on the wool series of books by Hugh howey, I've been a sucker for dystopian sci fi since bladerunner and this one looks good....

Also really looking forward to finding the time to watch the Bear season 2
Finished first season last night, it's got me cannae wait till season 2 now. Rebecca Ferguson is great, Tim Robbins magic 😍

Any yous watched Reign on Netflix?

My pal in America told me she loved it and i should watch it.

Is it historically correct she asked?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

American hair and teeth and probably the most historically inaccurate portrayal of Scottish history since Braveheart or ANY Hollywood portrayal of Scotland.

Fuck me they all have their own teeth......

Just finished watching Severance. Got a bit of a Lost/Twin Peaks vibe about it but very enjoyable and looking forward to season 2.

Annika, just watched the last episode of series 2

Jonathan watson as a baddie, was waiting for him to do a kenny dalglish impersonation 🤣

Watching the new series of Crime.

Quite brutal

Sweating the drink oot me before graft the morn.

It's on the STV player mate. You can get a free 7 day trial or go for the free one.

I watched some of them on the firestick and the last two on STV player.

You need to register now for it but just scan the bar code. That's the quickest way

The dropout on - I think Disney+ - is worth a watch. It’s about theranos, a company who under a young female Steve Jobs wannabe, took ‘fake it till you make it’ a bit far. They basically took investors for a small fortune for a technology that never worked that was supposed to do blood screening without a jag. She’s recently been sent to jail for it.

It’s well done, and nails the whole ‘LinkedIn’ culture of people just completely full of jargon and hot air.

@Bofahibee if you liked the OxyContin dramas you may like this.

Watched it and fair enjoyed it. Although Ray Lennox is almost becoming a likeable character, he never was in IW's books and there is far far too much maroon in the most recent one. Its like someone in the production company is a dirty big gunt.

Watched the second series DNA on BBC Four now started watching Black Snow on also on BBC Four

Anybody seen anything of "the reckoning" yet? Steve Coogan's portrayal of Saville. It's on BBC Iplayer but I haven't found a way to use it over here. Obviously my IP address is Thailand and if I use my VPN then they say switch your VPN off 🤷 Rights issues they say but isn't it more likely those abroad won't have paid the licence fee?

Not watched it yet mate, we are still discussing whether we put the TV at risk by doing so tbh.

My missus and I found it quite boring and surface skimming. It does show the depths of his depravity but only by the appearances of some of his victims (real life interviews). Coogan usually does better work than this, a bit wooden here.

Just started the first series and watched two episodes. Fairly impressed so far, it's well cast (the size of Stotty!). Not sure how someone like Lennox with his problems would slip under the radar in his workplace but that's half the story. One of IWs books that I haven't read but wished I had. Will watch all of this series and then decide re the second series. Thumbs up so far (cue The Doc).

Watched the first 2 episodes last night with the trouble & strife. Was OK, Coogan nails Savile in terms of the accent and mannerisms IMO. It shows his controlling and manipulative behaviour, and also touches on how he kept tabs on negative stories about him surfacing, and was able to prevent them going to press.

The long shadow - yorkshire ripper . I swear to god, the police in this country are absolutely useless, I thought emmerdale police were bad 😩
