Indeed but on watch faces it's usually, though not always, rendered as IIII (for reasons of symmetry with XIII I believe) - so a tattoo of a watch would be correct if it used this instead of IV.

Thanks Shrink but ofsted will be shutting me down for suggesting XIII opposes IIII (or IV) on a watchface; I did of course mean VIII. Easy to see how these tat mishaps happen :coffee:

His mate has said on Twitter that he's getting the XXVI shaded out at MMXVI added at the bottom somewhere. Not so sure what he can do about the time - his mate says the hour hand is in the right place but not on any watch I've ever owned - must buy his watches in Turkey.![]()
