Macron's minority government forced through the increase in retirement age without a vote at the end of last week. Today there are votes on 2 "motions de censure" against this disregard for democracy. If either motion is passed, the government collapses.
The French equivalent of the Tory party have instructed their MPs to abstain, meaning the legislation will probably stand. Their reason? - even if they're against the legislation, they refuse to side with the minority parties.
MPs are voted in to represent their constituents. Abstaining is a total lack of respect, especially in this case. Vote for or against, but do your fucking jobs!
