Sorry, to be fair I could probably look it up but I’m being a bit lazy......

So I gather, venerable one.....or don't give a fuck !
Your choice young Henry. The real world keeps on a turning.

I thought the dispute was settled in Scotland but would imagine cross border trains will still be affected.Does anyone know if the trains are running normally in december in scotland![]()
What’s the goal of the strikes?
Sorry, to be fair I could probably look it up but I’m being a bit lazy.
With wages quoted of most of those on strike i'm a positive pauperI'd imagine it's to avoid low paid workers getting a pay cut at the time of a cost of living crisis with huge inflation hurting the lower paid disproportionately...
I've been saying what the strikes are about from post #1.So I gather, venerable one.
I’m still none the wiser but I fully admit that’s probably my fault.
Media are deliberately quoting the higher end mate especially railway workers. With wages quoted of most of those on strike i'm a positive pauper
Don't think many teachers or nurses will earn less than me yet many are having to use foodbanks according to their representatives , just seems a bit strange to me . I think all sides quote higher / lower end as suits themMedia are deliberately quoting the higher end mate especially railway workers.
Is that a reply to me ??? I'm not on pauper wages but i'm not using food banks either nor am i unable to go to work as i can't afford petrol . Pile of pishI've pointed out strikes, and I've pointed out good victories and I've pointed out the advantages of joining a union,if you're suffering pauper wages I can't see what else I can do.
You're quite right, my apologies for being flippant. Looking back through it's about class struggle, putting pressure on the tories, not accepting below inflation pay deals and building the vote for independence?I've been saying what the strikes are about from post #1.
To be fair that is not what Moaty is saying. I'd certainly agree with it if that was the sole goal.I'd imagine it's to avoid low paid workers getting a pay cut at the time of a cost of living crisis with huge inflation hurting the lower paid disproportionately...
What do you think their goals are?To be fair that is not what Moaty is saying. I'd certainly agree with it if that was the sole goal.
Don’t know. I thought it was Smurf’s thing but from Moaty I learn it’s actually about the inevitability of revolution. What do you think their goals are?
Yup, I expect the Tories to fast track stuff through to stop protest, due to the amount of protest going on in the land of no money brexitland that they'll never admit to while some elitists make a fortune.I see there are two independent enquiries into possible corruption in the unite union . So if they can’t suppress the unions with new laws, they’ll get them with trumped up charges![]()
They wont though, security of the country their first priorityIt’s a difficult one but I wish the squaddies tell them to gtf with filling in for striking workers.
Squaddies probably wish they couldIt’s a difficult one but I wish the squaddies tell them to gtf with filling in for striking workers.
Why? I don't think having cover from the army weakens the union negotiating position particularly, it's not a long term solution anyway so the strike action will still be effective. I'm sure firefighters don't actually want our houses to burn down, they're on the same side as us.It’s a difficult one but I wish the squaddies tell them to gtf with filling in for striking workers.
I just think its a cop out by the government. By all means let the army drive the green godesses, drive ambulanses, check passport at airports, they will do their best, but is that really good enough. I just think we shouldnt be putting these lads in that position. Why? I don't think having cover from the army weakens the union negotiating position particularly, it's not a long term solution anyway so the strike action will still be effective. I'm sure firefighters don't actually want our houses to burn down, they're on the same side as us.
wow they should let my ex loose with their money, she will have it spent in record timeScottish Government underspend of 2 Billion Pound last year. This should be used to give these public sector workers an increase. And it's criminal in these tough times the Scottish Government has two thousand million pounds lying about that they don't know what to do with it.
Where to stay all these cushions though?wow they should let my ex loose with their money, she will have it spent in record time
Indeed.Scottish Government underspend of 2 Billion Pound last year. This should be used to give these public sector workers an increase. And it's criminal in these tough times the Scottish Government has two thousand million pounds lying about that they don't know what to do with it.
Well, sort of. People I have encountered on the far - and not too far - ends of those discussions variously thinkListening to Dowden and all the rest of hem this morning...blaming the unions for asking for a pay rise to at least try to keep pace with inflation.
Here's the way forward mate...get round the fecking negotiating table and start talking !
That's how you resolve disputes. Not taking entrenched positions and blaming the other side.
The unions know they are never going to get the full rise they want, but they will get something which is acceptable to them in the current climate, but just sitting back ranting away at them is not going to solve this. Talking will. We got peace in Northern Ireland against all the odds when people with extreme entrenched views eventually sat down talked like grown adults, and got an agreement. Industrial disputes will only be solved by proper negotiations and compromises being reached.
I think the tories just want this to drag on and they don't care how many ordinary people are affected. They want to sit back and paint Labour as being the friends of the strikers to make them unpopular with the public. It won't work. Labour always should be backing unions in a dispute and backing working people. The Labour Party would never have came to be without the Trade Union movement.
There's every chance it will work, because not enough of the British electorate realise they're being played or understand the importance of actually getting out and voting.I have no doubt that this is absolutely now hugely political.
An on its knees finished worn out Tory government facing electoral defeat to a Labour/Lib Dem understanding sees an opportunity....
That opportunity is to have strikes. Lots of strikes. And the longer they go on the less sympathy the strikers get. It's why every Tory in the media tells us Labour is on the side of the "Union bosses".
The Tories want to weaponise the strikes to undermine the opposition and the credentials in the minds of the the key marginal seats in England.
Depressingly it just might work.
True. And we are getting used to being told how to think. There's every chance it will work, because not enough of the British electorate realise they're being played or understand the importance of actually getting out and voting.
No we aren’t.True. And we are getting used to being told how to think.
