I love the auld kitchen sink dramas. When I was using the torrents I got loads of them. (And as I'm apparently a major tax dodger can i say i owned most of them on dvd as well. Tax paid).

My favourite ever film is Nil By Mouth. Very closely followed by Saturday Night Sunday Morning and Kes.
 
Dug Midnight Run out of my box of DVDs.

Not watched this in ages forgot how great it is. Proof that De Niro is one of the best ever too, as he puts the same effort into an action-comedy he does into his more celebrated dramatic roles.

watched The Menu with friends tonight. Enjoyed that, think most folk would - last act maybe a little open to criticism but generally good fun.

Then M3GAN, which is billed as a horror but is basically a John Waters film. It's excellent, if niche, and I'm glad I had an edible beforehand
 
Has anyone watched the film "Nope"?
I've just struggled through it so if you haven't watched it please don't bother. Possibly the worst movie I've ever watched and certainly the most confusing. A UFO, some horses, a killer chimpanzee and a cast of seriously unlikeable characters.

Wasted effort.

I loved this film. Really off the wall but quite poignant with it.

It'll not be for everyone I suppose, but it's great to see something this imaginative and strange cleaning up at the awards ceremonies.
 
Watched “Fall” on Netflix on Friday night, reasonably entertaining, about 2 climbers who decide to scale a ridiculously high radio tower. Loads of plot holes but the high up shots were brilliant I thought. Worth watching for those alone.

Also watched the first 2 films in the ‘Wrong Turn’ horror/slasher franchise, second one was comically grisly! Heard the other films in the series are dreadful so think I’ll avoid.

It's won loads of awards and is favourite to clean up at the Oscars.
Not that this counts for much, it's all about individual taste.
I'll give it a view sometime.
 
Got hame fae the boozer at 8, woke up at 12 and watched 12 Years a Slave . Thought I’d seen it before but cannae mind a lot of it. Must have fell asleep last time I watched it.

As a semi permanent stoned arse, the amount of films etc on Netflix recommending me to "watch again", is a veritable wonder!! Comfortably 50% of them, I have nae idea Ive watched them and could not tell you one thing about any of them!😂

For the viewers; 12 years a slave is pretty good. A true story i think. Worth watching.

😂Aye, it was good, and aye, a true story although I couldnae tell yi what happened tae the guy because the writey bit at the end was in Spanish, I only talk Swahili when I’m pished .😉
 
I watched the new Luther film last night and enjoyed it.

It's impressive how much the quality of production and photography has improved in recent years for what are essentially TV movies & series. I know it's mostly down to the available technology but I wonder as well if it's down to hardware & software being more and more accessible, thus opening up the "business" to a wider range of people?

Weirdly enough I watched it last night too and also enjoyed it despite it being a massive pile of unbelievable piffle.
 
Watched Babylon last night. A kind of Once Upon A Time in Old Hollywood. Wisnae impressed.
 
Watched A Man Called Otto on Saturday night, fair enjoyed it, if a little sad.
 
I watched The Fall on Netflix last night. Weird premise for a film with two lassies getting stuck up a TV tower. A big part of the viewing experience is wondering how the f**k they can manage to pad out two hours of a film from that starting point but it sort of works.

And, for those who aren't as woke as me, about 80% of the film is focused on cleavage. Shame on anyone who watches it (again) for that reason.
