Aye sound, might as well let everyone see what they’re working on in terms of shape and set pieces. That’ll be why it’s common for opposition staff members to be at training… oh wait, it’s no.

He was pictured at EM alongside the manager. I don’t think for a minute they would allow him to be sitting sipping a coffee and typing Hibs training methods into an IPad.
Do you not think, and this might be a bit radical but bear with me, clubs who have upcoming fixtures might send someone to take in a couple of their opponents matches to get an idea of how the set up and play and then report back?

Nothing radical about sending a scout to a game, sending a coach to training is different thing altogether. No sure what part of that you’re finding hard to understand.

If he’s here for any other reason, it would make sense to wait until after we play his employer.

Can't see big Myk coming back but I believe it would benefit his career and Hibs.

Do the City Group not usually send players on to different teams each season for building experience? Maybe they'd make the exception if we can make Europe. Contract at his parent club is until 2026 - no way we'd be able to afford to buy him.

He's a good player. I'd be happy spending the money we get for Nisbet on him.

I agree, but it sounds like if we don't get him next season it won't be for the want of trying.

That will have been part of the reason for the mass exodus, the other will have been be cost.
It just wasn't sustainable to have such massive squad with players moping round and not getting any game time.
All came about due to a mad recruitment philosophy.
Hopefully now a thing of the past and we can move on.

Also explains the "atrocious" treatment of players being made to train on their own (or not!) at 3.00pm.

Absolutely, squad was far too big and lacking in quality and must have costing a small fortune. I don’t think they’ve got it right just yet but it’s much better in terms of balance.

Certainly worth Hibs monitoring the situation.

That said I’d rather Hibs allowed room for young Laidlaw to step up. Assuming we keep McGeady for another year, sign Youan permanently and get Boyle back fit, that would give us more than enough exciting options in the wide areas.

If one of those things doesn’t happen, then it might be worth speaking to him.

Laidlaw should absolutely be getting his shot.

Took 10 minutes for me to start waxing lyrical about him against Dortmund. The lad has it.

Not a winger though? I know he played inside right against Dortmund but isn't he a second striker type?

Aye he does for sure, certainly needs to be space for him to be part of the first team next season.

I think it’s easier for young forward players to make the step up by playing out wide - get a little bit more time and space.

No sure what his actual best position is to be fair, but he looked excellent on the right against Dortmund. Most modern forwards tend to need to be able to play right across the front line, unless they’re a proper poacher.

Agree with that, pretty hard to dislodge a first choice striker at any age, level and ability.

I know it's very minor, but im not sure he was set up as a winger, to me it looked like 2 attacking midfielders with him and Zaid, O'Connor central ahead of him.
That gave him free reign from middle to right, and Zaid middle to left.

But, there's so little in the definition that he's shown he probably can come and play as a right winger.

I think his best role, on the very little I've seen of him in fairness, is playing just behind the striker, further up than an attacking midfielder, kinda like old school Kaka.
I said in one of the other threads a week or 2 ago that what's impressed me most about him is how willing he is to go and create for everyone else. Breaking in to the team somewhere other than striker might be the best thing for him.

Quality wee player.
Not the only one in that squad mind you. Reckon there's a handful there that if given their chance could well take it.

Must admit I like the sound of Myko (if we can persuade the City group to loan him to us for another season), Youan (permanent deal), McGeady, Boyle, and potentially Laidlaw as our front options for next season....assuming Nisbet leaves. A good mixture of experience, goals, skill, pace and potential all there. Much depends on how Boyle recovers from his third bad knee injury of his career. Hopefully McKirdy and Melkerson can progress, but it's wait and see for them. Financially all that will push the budget, but IMO you get what you pay for in football. We are going to have to splash whatever cash we have this summer on quality additions to the squad.

Think we need a playmaker in the middle, possibly a fullback as Cabraja seems to have come off the boil after a promising start and a striker or two with Nisbet leaving.

Cabraja looked to be coming back to form and inexplicably got dropped again,
