I hope we had more than one short-term senior CB earmarked, it leaves us precarious if not - even if Fish and Egan-Riley play well, I'd rather they were paired with a more experienced player, and Hanlon's fitness/reliability atm remains a mystery

If Jeggo plays every game it frees the rest of pur midfielders to play more expansively, which suits basically all of them - we were all hoping for another player with a touch of class moving into the final third, but with Campbell really coming onto a game, if having a proper DM improves Newell and to a lesser extent JDH we might not be too bad off

No opinion on Hoppe other than that it's a good pedigree he's coming with and we were a body short at the top end of the pitch

5/10 window as it stands, Jeggo imo is a key signing but there's absolutely no room for any more injuries rn and we need another body at the back. Maybe there's someone who's had their contract quietly torn up today who we'll be picking up as a free agent?

Not in my opinion.

Since 1st January we've sold Porteous, lost Bushiri for the season and possibly Nisbet for a number of weeks. Add that to the fact that Boyle's also out for the season and Kukharevych and Magennis have no immediate return pencilled in and I definitely wouldn't say we're better having just signed a couple of young loan signings and Jeggo on an 18 month deal.
 
Since the start of the window we have lost 2 centre halves in Porteous and Bushiri and a striker in Nisbet
We have brought in 1 centre half in CJ who in his short came tonight looked the part at right back.
I think we would have brought a 2nd centre back in but broke our striker and brought Matthew Hoppe to the club instead.
We brought in an experienced defensive mid in Jeggo who looks a good solid signing in place of Kenneh.

In conclusion we are a centre half down, a defensive mid up and have an inexperienced striker instead of an 8 goals in 8 games player.
We need to hope Hanlon manages to nurse himself through the remaining 14 games and Hoppe isn't hopeless or a slow starter and that the Nisbet hammy is a grade 1 strain that lasts 4 weeks which will see him miss 2 games and be ready to play against Livi on the 4th March.

We needed to strengthen before the window, lost Rocky injured sold Porteous and have a couple of youngsters for a few months and one other who could be good or could be Ed De Graaf.

Would agree with most of that mate but Hoppe would have been coming regardless. Not a chance we have signed and announced him in the ten mins between Nisbet going down and half time. More likely he was the Nisbet replacement that we have loaned anyway.

We still need an attacking midfielder that we have needed for the past 3 years now. CJ doesn't look a centre half. More a full back.

I don't particular like Johnson but he's been sold down the river the same as Maloney was last year. A jumble sale squad topped up with a few loans to make the most of.

Massive questions have to be asked as to what's going on at the club in terms of any long term planning and the people running the club should be absolutely ashamed about how far we are behind the 3rd placed team in another shambles of a season. Clinging on to hopefully catching Livi and out lasting St Mirren simply isn't good enough after our bottom 6 shambles last year. And all the signs are there clear as day that is what will happen again.

Love Hibs. That's why I don't put my head in the sand and accept the shite that you do supposedly. You think everythings good and we are going in the right direction based on nothing then bash on. I suspect you said the same this time last year then this summer after being emptied out the LC by Morton and Falkirk.

I see it slightly differently and think it’s like turning a tanker, which was never going to happen quickly:-

1- the damage had already been done and major surgery was never going to come in January - especially given the DOF mandate which hasn’t yet been fulfilled and in fairness even if he was here already January was never enough time to have enough of an impact.

2- we got rid of most of the deadwood in the squad and replenished priority areas; at the back following the loss of Porto and up top given we are light anyway and we’re probably trailing Hoppe knowing Nisbet might go.

3- you’d rather perm deals but only where they are absolutely sure rather than repeat the same mistakes - see Kenneh, Henderson and Tavares. Suspect we have missed out on targets too perhaps on a perm basis - especially if rumours were true re Jonny Williams and Bailey Wright.

4- The new CH/RB sounds decent by all accounts, Jeggo fits the bill of what we’ve been lacking and Hoppe has a decent write up. Would have liked to see more but then see 3- we had an inflated squad and much prefer quality over quantity. Plus some of the young team breaking through which is great.

5- It is a bit of a sticking plaster but that reflects the transition we are going through. Have kind of accepted this is a consolidate type season, though hopefully we do get a sniff a fourth - will certainly help summer signings.

6- this summer is huge, hoping we have the right infrastructure in place to support the transition and get the right players in.

I get the frustration because it is annoying, the dross we’ve been served up over the past few years but it all pointed towards some fundamental changes and I think that’s what the manager / board are now trying to do.

This is similar to where I'm at.

After a poor season there is always chat of the next being a "transitional" season and I'm glad we are having the bottle to see that transition through... It was never going to be smooth.

Everyone wants better results and better recruitment but neither was going to easy after the disasters prior.

Positives: A lot of crap has been flushed out the squad. Jeggo and CJ look like good additions to the squad (more of that please) and we'll just have to see about Hoppe.

Negatives: We still aren't where we need to be and it's going to be a bumpy ride until the summer.

A season like this every season would be shite, but seeing this particular one out might make us all the stronger for the next instead of going back to drawing board again and again and again...
 
Happy with the players we where being linked with and trying to get, seemed a bit different to past windows, obviously not happy we didn't get more in but its done now, some of the players where just a bit out of our reach and some we simply didn't offer enough for, summer window will be different though and will be easier to get players in.
 
I’m still hoping the club have a deal still to announce. We’ve not done our usual transfer window roundup yet but wondering if they’re holding off for fear of fan reaction.

Interesting article. I wouldn't be averse to signing Gunnarson again - at this stage we're not really looking for first choice defenders I guess, just injury cover which we'll inevitably need at some point. I think he could do a job at that without busting the bank.

We’ll probably sign none of them but I like the sound of the Swiss boy and Blackett.

Gunnarson would do a job as a back up.

Blackett seems perfect. Can play FB and CB and decent age. I'd get him in now on a 3 year deal.

Klose would be good to see out season tbh.

More the fact that we don’t need someone who will take months to get up to speed. He’s played 2 games this seasons and appears to have played less than 40 total club games since 2018...
