This is what some supporters don't get
We had too many glaring holes needing filled in
Vente in to fill a gaping Nisbet hole
Fish in to fill a Fish hole
Youan in to fill a Youan hole
Levitt in to fill a limping Magennis hole
So necessities rather than upgrades

Next summer will be easier and cheaper.
Needing a new No.9 is a tough and expensive business.

In County Meath there are 37 football clubs.

It’s happened Through generations, a player coming through at a young age signs for a team that isn’t his “team” growing up.
Surely you’re not naive enough to think that this disny happen 🙈

You clearly know nothing about Ireland at all. You've done five minutes on google and are trying to make it look like you are knowledgeable on the subject. Makes you sound like a Celtic fan, which I know you're not.

I doubt you'd ever heard of either Athboy or Meath before you went Googling. For the record they are both dumps. Only kidding, they are alright.

There are plenty of clubs around the country whose names mention other clubs or cities. There is even one near me with Frankfurt in the name. It doesn't mean anymore than Rovers or United and don't forget we are a Celtic nation.

Sadly, It's definitely more likely that an Irish Catholic would support Celtic than Hibs but the St Mirren comment is complete bollox even though they are called after an Irish Saint.

It's just as likely that such a lad wouldn't give a toss about Scottish football.

In the end, who cares. If he is in a Hibs shirt he is important. If he isn't, he is not.

Your taking my comment out of context which is the most unfair and naive thing of all on forums.
You need to go back to post 2184 on the previous page to get the context?
Basically another poster Bofahibee said Jamie McGrath had left Wigan.
I replied that he must have another club teed up and that it could be Hearts
Bofahibee replied he's a Hibee isn't he?
I replied, I doubt it. Are you confusing him with Jason Kerr?
4 hours later after Bofahibee and I had moved on Dub went back to my post and jumped in with "From Ireland so he could very easily be a Hibs supporter" We then batted the pointless matter of what team McGrath might support back and forward.

So in the whole exchange I did not state that McGrath or any other player will not sign for one team because they supported another.
For me they are all professional athletes who will follow the money.
Furthermore I should also say I would never suggest that Hibs don't sign a player because he has played for another football team.
That tribalism is something I have seen on Hibs forums but isn't a view I hold.

Getting back to the original football part of the conversation. McGrath must have a club teed up to walk away from his contract at Wigan.
I would like it to be Hibs but Hearts and Aberdeen are a bigger possibility especially the latter given they appear to be selling Ramadani.

I should explain I wasn't trying to show knowledge of Ireland, I was merely having a daft obtuse discussion with Dub as we have from time to time. My 5 minute Google was to aid my side of the wind up. I did hope Dub would come back with something more than McGrath could support Hibs because he is Irish but sadly that was all he had.
It wasn't supposed to be taken seriously. I will include smileys in future.
It's a historical fall out going back to when I first joined the Bounce.
Him and a few others like to keep it going and give me a dig now and then

If you knew much about Scottish football or Irish players playing here you would know that Jamie McGrath made his name at St Mirren hence my point why he would be more likely to support them than Hibs. Absolutely nothing to do with an Irish Saint. That never crossed my mind. I have no interest in that stuff.

I can only think his new club hasn't been announced because either he wants the dust to settle first or his new team are imminently moving a player on and want to keep quiet on McGrath for some reason, until it is done, but we are only 3 days away from the start of the season.

Wigans financial problems probably played part in it .

Would offer us something different in midfield and out wide

I would as well, he’d be a massive upgrade on Henderson and dare I say Campbell too.

There more players that can make things happen the better.

I want Vente to score goals, nothing else. So we need to set him up, over and over again. The more that can, the better.

I am well aware that McGrath played for St Mirren. Like most pros he probably looks up the results of his former teams and he probably wants them to do well.

I am also aware of what a supporter is and the above is not it.

I’d be an upgrade on Hendo2 and I’ll be fumfundfumzig next year and haven’t kicked a ball for about 15 years……

I think Campbell is under-rated. And I don’t know enough of McGrath to be honest.

Most parents support their kids financially, De facto. Do you consider Ethan a rich kid? Less fortunate, more talented kids have dropped out of football ad finitum
 
I’d imagine every parent supports their kids, not just for bed and board, food and stuff, but to pay for other developmental stuff. Football, swimming… whatever is needed really.

Just having kids is financial Armageddon.
I’m ashamed to say I can no longer afford to raise mine and I’m looking for adoption options.
It’s not something any parent should have to do.

It’s really hard.

Apparently no *&*^ wants to adopt kids in their 40’s.

That’s the kids in their 40’s No the parents.

Not according to the reports I read. Both players left Wigan because of contract issues on the advice of the PFA. I would assume both were totally confident of getting new clubs pretty quickly which has happened with Whatmough. Sure we'll see the same with McGrath shortly. Doesn't mean new jobs were "lined up"
Neither you nor I know for sure though.

Parents of athletes competing at a high level in individual sports will indeed spend big money but surely kids like Ethan who play team sports and who are part of an Academy like Hibs require a relatively low financial commitment.
One way or another parents spend fortunes on their kids. I say that as the parent of a daughter who recently finished full time education in another Scottish city and I can tell you 5 years of rent is big bucks, out of a pension. Thank goodness my son had my wife's brains or I would be a pauper ...

I jest because my wife doesn't read the bounce
