Little things that annoy you.

The worst thing I have ever done in the DIY realm is remove decades old woodchip. A hellish job, in an ever declining ambience: as decades of nicotine on the ceiling liquefied under my steamer assault.

Amber rain, amber rain, as Prince might have sung, had he been Scottish :coffee1:
Mine was letting my wife remove a no-longer-fashionable dado rail while I was offshore then having to hire a plasterer to skim the walls which in turn resulted in all doors and woodwork being caked with plaster dust.

If any of yous have a job needing stripped there's a couple of lads who do that as their linen of work.

A bonus for decorators as the rooms are stripped and ready to start work on.

Haarlem that street scene wall covering came in four pieces.

Centred the wall then went from bottom right then bottom left then top left then top right.

The trick to removing woodchip and the quarter inch of cemented emulsion paint is simply NOT to remove it. Job done.

But I know exactly the experience you had, because I've had that same unhappy experience, and the eventual out come is that my missus insisted that all walls are replastered and repainted.
True, the finished job is very nice, but it didn't half put a dent in my ISAs.

I lose my mind when my shoe lace comes undone. I don’t understand why it’s only the left lace that comes undone but the right lace never comes undone. There has to be an explanation for this. Drives me nuts because a make an effort to tighten the left lace to avoid this but it still comes loose.

Tie it in a double bow

Try this, seriously.

I cant remember which way round it is as its a muscle memory thing, but the very first move you make when you tie a bow (assuming you are right handed), do it the opposite way. In other words the lace you instinctively lay on the top of the other, put that one underneath instead. Then tie as normal.

Its a game changer. Note this has science behind it, its not a Viz top tip. Its all to do with torque in the knot and the forces exerted while walking. I cannae mind the details, but this has worked for me.

Assuming you are a right hander? And what's wrong with being left handed?

Are you trying to cause a fracture between left and right handed folk?

You sound suspiciously like a lefthandophobe and indeed by that conclusion you should attend left hand awareness camp.

😤

Canny believe a thread has descended into explaining how to tie shoe laces. Its like a day in the life of a jambo
Rivalled by a thread on Taliban years ago, where grown men discussed how to pack shopping at supermarket check outs.

Its all fucked.

So out of interest what IS the best way to pack your messages?

Once you have tied the laces push them down the inside of the shoe/trainer/boot. I f you do that firmly enough they will stay there.
End of.
Next topic please.

Aye, Sketchers are very comfy. Slippy as fuck in the wet though.
Ah but me being retired means if it's wet and slippy (oooer missus) I don't have to go oot.

But cheers for the heads up as I didn't know that.

If it's REAL shoes for going out the my brogues are the ones.

Sounds uncomy and irritating.
I have been doing this for over 60 years since my teens. I noticed a pal doing his laces like this and copied it and it is not uncomfy at all if you do it right. Obviously not suitable for extremely long laces that trainers sometimes have but I honestly don't even feel them there. It gives me peace of mind as they stay tucked in and it looks neater too. Always wondered why it never caught on more.

It does work. I taught my 8 year old grandson this.
Take note Burbank. 8 year old.
