Labour

But not the law. The guidance was updated after the S ottish Government lost in the Supreme Court. I note you've shifted from the law to guidance. As you know it's the law that's paramount.

But I think you're saying the islands would have a case, but only if someone in England won a similar case? Why wait?
The revised guidance came out as a result of that case.

Similar cases were already going on in the public sector in England as well as cases involving the private sector.

What did they all have in common?

The previous UK guidance based on UK law.

Anyway. Hypothetically. Should Scotland get a rebate/reduction/whatever you want to call it on the defence entry in GERS?

No. There's no transaction involved whatsoever. The Scottish Government hasn't paid anything this.

Should islanders who pay tax to the Scottish Government get a rebate for being failed by the Scottish Government.

As I understand it islanders have received some sort of compensation. Much the same as when any transport links go down.

So back to GERS. Should the Scottish Government pay a smaller notional figure for defence and therefore have a smaller overall notional deficit?

No. You do realise if you did it this way the logic would be to cut expenditure in Scotland. Do you want to close bases and put Scottish service people out of jobs?

Of course you don't which is where you end up with silly hypotheticals.

But it's because you aren't comparing like with like.

And how do you assess Scotland isn't defended? Are you a military planner and strategist now?

No, just read a few UK defence articles now and again.

See previous posts regarding all armed forces with non functioning equipment. And that's just the headline stuff.

What are Labour doing to get upto 3% GDP?

Doesn't look like its going to get close anytime soon. Although getting what's supposed to be working working would be a help!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 watching pmqs.

Some dozy labour bint wailing while praising Starmer.

I'll say it again, Starmer being kicked out by 300 or so backbenchers, none of whom would be there if he hadn't won them a 147 seat majority only two years ago, is a total farce.
Andy Burnham wasn't even an MP a few weeks ago, and here he is is about to to be made Prime Minister of the UK.
Unelected by anyone.
I reckon these backbenchers will get rid of Burnham as well fairly quickly when they realise that it doesn't matter who is fronting your party the country is facing very hard decisions which will not go down well with them. The UK simply cannot borrow any more money to throw at people.

For me , Starmer was far from perfect and he made mistakes as does every single Prime Minister there has ever been, but he didn't deserve to be stabbed in the back in the way he has been.

No one does back stabbing treachery like the Labour party.

They are experts at it

Aye, backstabbing wee bastards that they are. :grrr:
Trouble was that although Starmer led them to a landslide, he simply didn't cut the mustard as a PM and so they deserted him.
An almost identical scenario to Boris and the Tories, who rounded on him in similar fashion.

That ended well.
:coffee1:

They all do it when the et tu Brute moment arrives... didn't the Tories have a self-styled group of 'Bastards' who eventually piled in on Thatcher?
Aye when the plucked up the courage eventually 🤣🤣

Starmer was doomed from the start.

Not to mention the tories wi Boris as someone else said above, and all the other PMs they lined up then shot down in just the last decade, so they all do backstabbing in their own way so what's the point of saying already that Labour are the real experts?

Waste of breath so it all is

Because the past history of the labour party shows them to be top dogs at sleekitness.

It's only recently the Tories have taken to the et tu brut.

They normally kept everything in house from what I can remember.

I wonder how long before he’s “caught” daein something wrong. And he’ll obviously get a nickname tae suit his crime.
Any guess’s from our political viewers?
