Just Back and that was underwhelming

Great JB, and I agree with most of the sentiments on here, other than Obita - he was awful, I agree that Iredale was poor, but a bit of that was down to Obita's positioning, he left him high and dry on many occasions. I get that he's a wing back, and needs to get forward, but he shows absolutely no urgency to get back and help defend, he just ambles back and leaves everyone else to deal with it - look again at their goal as a prime example of this. The one thing he did well was his touch on the ball for our goal, but his cross was terrible and took something special/lucky from Bowie to make it into something.

Our biggest problem (in my opinion) is that when we start like we did, playing teams off the park, for the first 20 minutes and we don't get anything, we seem to drop our heads and we don't keep going at them (difficult to keep that intensity up I know) or that we don't have a plan B to try something else, it just seems to be that we don't have an idea of how to break them down when our initial burst doesn't work.

Player of the match for me was Youan, draw a fair result, still say Motherwell are one of the better teams we have faced.

Excellent just back. I thought Obita, Hanley, Sallinger Ohara were good.Iredale was poor and Bowie was mmm, my player of the match was Youan, my family didn't agree.I enjoyed the game, two evenly matched teams, a fair point for us.The ref was attrocious hence the booing.
I agree with your family 👍😜

Would need to watch the highlights but I thought if Obita had put it in front of Bowie it’s hitting a defender

Two things I’ve gleaned from the thread, the love - in with Elie . Fair enough he has definitely upped his effort recently( transfer window open ) BUT , one of the fundamentals of winning ( not losing football matches ) is possession of the ball 👍 He still loses that possession for me, whether that be 1. his usual insistsnce of beating ANOTHER player or 2 his passing is often sloppy . I get the razzle dazzle thing and it’s nice to watch, when it works . Personally I’m hoping there are suiters out there who like the razzle dazzle . I’ll just wait now for the “ what a load o pish “ 🤣
Secondly re - KB, I get the “ he always looks puggled “ and he does 😩
He’s only 23 so it’s a bit odd . Could it be he does too much from the kick off . He is always moving around when the opposition defenders have the ball facing down whoever has the ball, it would be interesting to see his mileage stats 🤔
I now watch other strikers to see if they do the same thing 🤷‍♂️ Once again I may be talking sh*te . I’ll be interested to see what @Hammi thinks 🤔

Despite it being a good match to watch, there were very few if any real clear cut chances created by either side.
It was disappointing not to win a home game against a team we would have went above in the league had we won.
Hibs didn't merit any more than a point though in my opinion.

I think any criticism of our strikers is harsh . There is not much you can do when there is such a lack of creativity.
When all you have to work with is long punts forward to chase, and the very occasional decent cross into the box, it's no surprise we only managed one goal.
I see Bowie getting a bit of stick...I thought he done the best he could with what he had to work with.
I don't think he is ever going to be a goal machine, but he will score a few and he has all the other attributes needed for a modern day striker in that is he physically strong, and links well with other players. I know i'm like a stuck record, but I don't think he can play as a target man with his back to goal. We are just not getting the best out of him playing him where we are.

Thibault Klidge is just not being given any sort of proper service or, more importantly, a proper run of games to seriously prove himself in this league.
I think he is a good player and could get goals in this league with some decent service to him and an experienced player in the front line for him to play off.

We missed Nicky Cadden on Saturday, and especially Martin Boyle who for me is still our best forward.
Josh Campbell was also missed as he is easily our best player in the air, and provides a goal threat from midfield.

Overall, with so many players out, ill, or not ready to play...I think a point was a decent result against a good team....who were also missing one of their best players.

We are in a fight for fourth spot finish with Motherwell, and it would increase our chances greatly of achieving that if we could get in a big, experienced physically strong striker who can play with his back to goal, and a right wing-back before the end of the window.

Agreed. Bowie’s skills are not being used properly and he/Hibs would benefit from a (stuck record) Dykes-type partner, proven at our level at least. Bowie has to do too much work trying to win the ball, often with his back to goal, then turn, find his bearings etc. The criticism of Klidje is unwarranted when he’s being used cold as a late sub as he has proved he can and does score when he starts. I don’t know how you fit them all into a team but I’m sure Bowie and Klidje would benefit from playing alongside a big target man.

Not saying you meant me GM but the stick I gave him was of his first touch on Saturday, it was murder. He did however eventually have good one and scored.
Didn't mean you Billy...and I agree his first touch isn't the best.

I just thought reading some accounts of the game, and also at the game itself, it appeared he was getting some moans pointed his way, and I thought overall, given what service he had, that he done fine. I don't think he is at his best playing with his back to goal. As we saw in the derby, when he is running at defences and finding space for himself, he is a very good finisher and that's ultimately what he is in the team for. To score goals.

I find this interesting considering defending the half way line shot from Bowie last week.

I don't mind how he looks. He can look burst all he wants as long as he's active when it matters. And tbf to him, he is.
He's just not getting to play to his strengths. (broken record at this point)
I don't think there's detailed numbers for distance covered in Scotland unless they're on TV or Hibs release the numbers, but I don't think he covers a lot of ground(in the way a Kenny Miller would) but he does do a lot of physical work.

the forty yard shot was a mistake, a one of though really , although he did try the outrageous against partizan. Which did work 😜
