I think the article is right to focus on the silence and hypocrisy from European governments on this latest in a long line of atrocities. Israel should face international repercussions for its actions, im sick of our country's complicity in this. Im not sure what should be done (sanctions, pariah status, expulsion from UN) but we need to move from a point where we are observers to actors

Just watched Sky News story on this. Why are our politicians not making any noise about it?

GLAN and the Hind Rajab Foundation applied for an arrest warrant for Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, in the hopes of arresting him for war crimes while he was in Britain last Tuesday for a secret meeting with David Lammy.

Sa’ar was about to quickly leave the UK when he heard this news, but David Lammy assured him the British government would block the arrest warrant, which they did. So the man who publicly called for the starvation of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, stayed for the meeting with Lammy and went back to Israel a free man.

This is a huge story. But only three publications in the UK covered it. First the Middle East Eye broke the story - simply by following the news in Israel. You see in Israel, this was NOT a secret meeting between Sa’ar and Lammy. It was covered in all their news media so anyone who follows Israeli news (like countless British journalists do!) was aware of it. Then the National  in Scotland wrote a piece on Sa’ar coming for the secret meeting. Then - after Sa’ar left the UK on Wednesday - The Guardian did a past tense story lightly covering the blocking of the arrest warrant.

The BBC have not only not covered the story, but wrote a piece stating that a member of the British Board of Deputies met with Sa’ar IN ISRAEL, when that meeting actually took place in London when Sa’ar visited! So the BBC lied to the public, who fund it and whom it is supposed to serve!

Sky, ITV, Channel 4, the Telegraph, the Independent and the rest also did not cover the story.

Why are our news media protecting our government when they exist to hold power to account? This is another huge story to come out of this. The British media have gone out of its way to cover for Israeli crimes and the crimes of the British government who are enabling them. How can the British public make informed decisions in elections when our media is effectively acting as the Public Relations wing of the government?! How can democracy function without an effective news media? And importantly- WHAT ELSE AREN’T THEY TELLING US?

Journalists are very few and far these days, they’re just reporters telling us what they’re told to or allowed to.

Several hours later, no problem, genocide/not genocide Christians on here must not have seen the abhorrent Israeli polis knocking fuck out of Christian Priests and followers trying to celebrate their Holy Day in Jerusalem. Monstrous from what I saw and in my opinion.

Most of the worlds atrocities and oppression continue to come from where they have always come from, since the emergence of each; Islamists (to be polite) or leftists.

Trumps idea of Disneyland in the Middle East taking a step closer.

The plan is to drive the population south and, once that’s consolidated, open the border with Egypt and give the Palestinians an ultimatum of get out or face extermination knowing Egypt are unable to respond. All of course with the military support of the USA. Then, once the Gaza ‘problem’ is resolved, their entire war machine can be freed up to push out the West Bank and into Syria and Iraq. The Israelis have already made it clear their intentions for Greater Israel.

The usual suspects (well, one in particular) will of course be jumping on this citing anti semitism - the invincibility cloak of any criticism of the Israeli state.

Indeed. It's incredible that there's still hostages being held after all this time. And incredible that Israel is still pounding the area with indiscriminate missiles and now effectively trying to starve the population. The leadership on both sides have no interest in 'their' people. They're only interested in their survival.
