Tv series

Just watching Jimmy McGoverns fantastic TV series The Street.

Got it on the Syncler app on't firestick.

Brilliant stories and brilliant acting.

Have started Get Shorty on C4, it's really good so far. Stars the Irish boy from IT Crowd and Ray Romano which is an unexpectedly good combination.

Any yous been watching Mayor of Kingstown?
Written i think by the same geezer who makes Yellowstone.

A bit far fetched in bits but watchable

Watching The Last of Us , on Sky Atlantic , pretty good so far. Also working my way through Tokyo Vice , enjoying Person of Interest on Alabi even if it's a bit far fetched. His Dark Materials is heading towards a conclusion with only two episodes left so I'll be looking for something new to get into after that's finished

On the last episode of The Rig. Don't know why I've stuck with it tbh, absolute pish.

I finished it because I have far too much time on my hands just now.

It's obviously heavily influenced by Stephen King but they missed the target wildly.

That just reminded me that Stephen King himself posted something really positive about it on Twitter. Maybe that's why I stuck with it. Still thought it was pish.

It's very much his style - mysterious artefacts, spores, fog, voices in heads, "the ancestor", the baddie authority figure... except the Rig just drags on slowly to a crappy ending - leaving it open for another season which I'll avoid if it happens.

Obviously set up for series 2,dunno how such a stelar cast attached themselves to a pish story

I shotgunned Extraordinary - A comedy where everyone gets a superpower when they turn 18. Almost everyone that is as the main protagonist hasn't got one. It's pretty entertaining especially as some of the superpowers are shit IE the mum can manipulate technology only she doesn't understand technology and one of the cast can shit tins of energy drink.

Yes I've never watched it. Might have been put off in the past by seeing Sarah Lancashire played the main part as I hated all British soaps but I don't remember. Have to say just one episode in she's excellent. I'll stick with it.
We re-watched the first two series of Happy Valley in preparation for series three. It is British television at its best.

Best since sherwood 👍

I hate eastenders. Despise it. Coronation street too. Get up snd leave a room when someone puts it on. I think I’m quite angry.

Rattled through The Last Kingdom. Though it was on par with Vikings .
Worth a watch (y)

Started based on this comment.
Finished it tonight.

For some unknown reason before starting I thought it was a cheaply produced show. Turns out I had it confused with something else and it was anything but.

Recycled their storylines, but fair enjoyed it.
Well shot, pretty well acted.
Preferred vikings overall, especially towards the end, but well worth the watch.
Cheers 👍

Finally finished The Rig last night, was ok but they could’ve made it so much better. Take away the supernatural Stephen King element (which will turn a lot of folk off straight away) and make it just a straight survival/disaster theme with a bit of Big Oil corruption thrown in and it would’ve been barryer.

As someone who works offshore it did seem fairly authentic. Bit of trivia: a lot of the lead characters are named after actual North Sea oil rigs - Dunlin, Fulmar, Magnus, Murchieston etc

I worked in the oil industry for 43 years and thought it was pish. Mind you I only watched the first two episodes. If it got more "authentic" after that I'll take your word for it.

In what way? I thought it was a fairly decent portrayal, obviously loads of stuff you could pick holes in.

As I said I only watched the first two episodes. The only thing that rang true for me was the angry deck foreman. The fact you're saying there was loads you could pick holes in kinda backs up my opinion no?

So you were a deck foreman, eh?

Right then, time to watch Happy Valley and see what the fuss is all about.
