Did you carry on with this Kev? I gave up after ep 2. Thought the acting was pretty wooden.“The Rig” released on Amazon prime today - looks decent. Will start it tonight.

Yes it's poor. I gave up after ep 2On the last episode of The Rig. Don't know why I've stuck with it tbh, absolute pish.

That just reminded me that Stephen King himself posted something really positive about it on Twitter. Maybe that's why I stuck with it. Still thought it was pish.I finished it because I have far too much time on my hands just now.
It's obviously heavily influenced by Stephen King but they missed the target wildly.
It's very much his style - mysterious artefacts, spores, fog, voices in heads, "the ancestor", the baddie authority figure... except the Rig just drags on slowly to a crappy ending - leaving it open for another season which I'll avoid if it happens. That just reminded me that Stephen King himself posted something really positive about it on Twitter. Obviously set up for series 2,dunno how such a stelar cast attached themselves to a pish storyIt's very much his style - mysterious artefacts, spores, fog, voices in heads, "the ancestor", the baddie authority figure... except the Rig just drags on slowly to a crappy ending - leaving it open for another season which I'll avoid if it happens.

Its actually the 3rd series thats on , are u watching it from the beginning ?Just watched the first episode. Looks good, thanks.
Yes I've never watched it. Might have been put off in the past by seeing Sarah Lancashire played the main part as I hated all British soaps but I don't remember. Have to say just one episode in she's excellent. I'll stick with it.Its actually the 3rd series thats on , are u watching it from the beginning ?
We re-watched the first two series of Happy Valley in preparation for series three. It is British television at its best.Yes I've never watched it. Rattled through The Last Kingdom. Though it was on par with Vikings .

He's the next Saville.Haunted by my sons fascination for Mr Tumble and his various tv programmes.
I worked in the oil industry for 43 years and thought it was pish. Mind you I only watched the first two episodes. If it got more "authentic" after that I'll take your word for it.Finally finished The Rig last night, was ok but they could’ve made it so much better. Take away the supernatural Stephen King element (which will turn a lot of folk off straight away) and make it just a straight survival/disaster theme with a bit of Big Oil corruption thrown in and it would’ve been barryer.
As someone who works offshore it did seem fairly authentic. Bit of trivia: a lot of the lead characters are named after actual North Sea oil rigs - Dunlin, Fulmar, Magnus, Murchieston etc
In what way? I thought it was a fairly decent portrayal, obviously loads of stuff you could pick holes in.I worked in the oil industry for 43 years and thought it was pish. Mind you I only watched the first two episodes. If it got more "authentic" after that I'll take your word for it.
As I said I only watched the first two episodes. The only thing that rang true for me was the angry deck foreman. The fact you're saying there was loads you could pick holes in kinda backs up my opinion no?In what way? I thought it was a fairly decent portrayal, obviously loads of stuff you could pick holes in.
So you were a deck foreman, eh?As I said I only watched the first two episodes. The only thing that rang true for me was the angry deck foreman. The fact you're saying there was loads you could pick holes in kinda backs up my opinion no?
Haha I was often angry enough to seamlessly slot into that job.So you were a deck foreman, eh?
It's decent telly mate. A wee bit hmmmm how did that happenish but overall decentRight then, time to watch Happy Valley and see what the fuss is all about.
