Tv series

Just finished Your Friends and Neighbours. It was enjoyable enough but doesn't need a second series (which has already been commissioned).

I’m watching Dexter and almost at the end of season two. I won’t go more than two seasons. It’s meh, but what really ruins it are the female characters, they are so unlikable, just awful but I reckon the characters were written for that time.

Books were decent holiday reads.....

Watched a few of the series, but after the first two or three it wasn't worth the effort.

I've just started it the now. A geezer on one of the Syncler sites I'm on from Bermuda has messaged and said how much he's enjoying Dept Q

3 episodes in. Good stuff, has a 'Scandi Noir' feel to it. Some well kent faces in the cast.
I watched the lot over 2 days, and I thought it was superb from start to finish. It appears to be set up for a second series, which is great.

We are 5 episodes in.
Last 4 tonight.
It's very good so far.
Loving the lead character.
My kinda guy!!!!

@Tiger Prima reckons the only difference between me and the grumpy bastard lead copper is that my parking is slightly better :gigglle: :gigglle:
After the first episode I said to my missus that I thought the top cop was brilliantly sardonic with fabulous sarcasm mixed in.
She said ' Yup. Must be like looking in the mirror for you'
She has no idea how proud that makes me!!!

Started whatching Clarksons Farm after reading reviews on this. Mid way through season 2, and Ive liked it.
The security lad who cannae speak😆

It's a decent watch EG. He is a hopeless fucker though and needs the help that is at hand.
Aye! He has an idea, the immediately acts on it.... tae phuck wi any consequence 😆.

Mind my brother trying to get me to watch it at the time but I pied it as 1) Clarkson. -What does he have to offer we not already seen from him and 2) Farming - no a subject I thought id find any interest in.... but wrong on both counts. Its been a good watch so far.

His farm is massive, and stunning.

As the series goes on you get more of an idea about farmers and their jobs.

It is a cracking area where the farm is. He can draw a lot of ire sometimes but with this venture I'm on his side for a change.

Aye, its stunning down there.

Im a couple of episodes post Brexit, which seemed to leave every farmer worse off, but looks like they are diversifying their farms to try and combat their losses.

Ive laughed quite a bit through it so far.

Gerald is a star. Fuck knows what he is saying right enough 🤣

Aye he'd make a great Dr Who. The Daleks would be baffled and piss off back to their own planet.

When I am given to observe that normal folk are funnier than comedians, I have been told that it's different because I'm comparing watching someone on TV to the back and forth chat of real life.

Which is a valid point and true to a degree, but also....Gerald and Kaleb.

IMHO Clarkson, in his own way, highlights the reasons many farmers struggle to survive. Of course they don’t have Amazon to pay for their mistakes but he does make some valid points, particularly regarding environmental and planning issues. I’m on series 4 and enjoying it. Cut through his schoolboy humour and he does get a message across.

He does and tbf he repeatedly makes the same point you do about it being easier for him cos Amazon and he's rich as well.

C'mon then ya auld gadgies. Who minds this Scottish telly show from back in the day?.....

Adam Smith

A religious drama series from Granada in which middle-aged Church of Scotland minister Andrew Smith (Andrew Keir) – whose parish is in the small (fictional) country town of Lammerton (actually filmed in Gifford, 19 miles east of Edinburgh) – questions the purpose of his local ministry following his wife’s death of incurable and painful cancer.

Storylines ranged from problems of broken marriages, adultery and bad housing to the morality of suffering, pain and the finality of death.

Just about to start Dept Q on Netflix. Cold case cop drama set in Edinburgh. I will report back.
I'm enjoying it so far while struggling through the awful 'Scottish actor accents' and BBC Scotland type 'banter'.

Edinburgh, as ever, is a majestic backdrop and the storyline intriguing.

It has also given me an all new mental image of @Beagle. Given one never sees policemen in the flesh these days, it has taken the series to update me that all Scottish rozzers now comport themselves like east London hipsters.

Joe you can't be very hip if you need to ask that question? ;))

A variety of frequently cringey labels have been bestowed on hip hop fans over the years, but hipster afaik ain't one.

Think mullets, ill fitting jumble-sale attire etc. No moustaches yet though, apart from the Syrian refugee whose role is to show all the dumb white folk how to be nice and how to do stuff.

Your mental image of me is probably more impressive than the real me.

I'm struggling with it and can't really pin down why I'm sticking with it. Just about to start ep 6. Not one likeable character. OK maybe Kelly MacDonald as the shrink.

I was thinking more along these lines.....

Aha, so it’s a new label attached by me, I hope they appreciate it 😜 so your answer to my qustion is low waisted troosers 👍

Have I ever told you about my vision for a daring and groundbreaking cop show?

It's working title is 'Dave Normal, well adjusted cop'. In it we follow Dave, who 'gets results' by trusting the process and respecting the rules, before going home in the evening to the happy and stable family life he has built.

It might be a bit controversial and shocking, but I trust audience to be able to handle it.
