Finished department q tonight. Good watch though did get heroically complicated at the end. I think we spent as much time with the thing paused as I explained to the missus who was who and what was going on, as we did watching it. Was stumped myself once or twice and had to rely on the bairn's less aged brain!
It's been getting decent reviews all over so that's another show on the planner.Finished watching The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
Excellent.
This is next on my watchlist unless another series of Slow Horses drops sooner.Finished watching The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
Excellent.
Agreed wholeheartedly. Enjoyed series 2 much more than 1. Watched episode 1 then downloaded the rest and binge watched it.Karen Pirie
All Series 2 episodes are on ITVX now, but fuck me, they are long at 2 hours each.
Series 1 was great, introduced some solid permanent charaters, nice quirks, well acted. But I did think they were trying to outdo Rebus with it being set in Fife - maybe not.
Series 2 was better, the main characters from series 1 (Pirie, Mint, River, Lees) were great, but the new characters for this series were fabulous, good performances from James Cosmo, Julia Brown, James Fleet, etc. were a very good watch. The main character might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I liked her.
The work through of the investigation worked well with the flashbacks keeping in synch with the investigation
It was great seeing a Scottish TV series produced well. Keep up the good work ITV/STV or whoever produced it.
Is the acting on a par wi shetlandAgreed wholeheartedly. Enjoyed series 2 much more than 1. Watched episode 1 then downloaded the rest and binge watched it.
The acting in Karen Pirie is proper acting. Is the acting on a par wi shetland![]()
And I forgot to mention, the theme music is (the absolutely outstanding) Arab Strap - The Turning of our BonesKaren Pirie

Watching on yr insightful recommendation - halfway thru ser1ep1 now and it is good so far, cheersAnd I forgot to mention, the theme music is (the absolutely outstanding) Arab Strap - The Turning of our Bones
I found myself paying more attention to the scenery than the acting in Shetland - it was very “wooden”. Karen Pirie is much more professional. The acting in Karen Pirie is proper acting.
The acting in Shetlnd isn't - Sandy, Tosh, etc are cute characters, and I love watching Shetland (I might be seduced by the scenery) but the acting is pish.
Thought the first squid game was decent but just can't get into the rest.Just finished series 2 and 3 of Squid games. Good or a pile of crap? Still not sure. The acting seemed very stilted.

It was excellent - fair sucked the air out of the room at times.Unforgivable on BBC I Player
Written by Jimmy McGovern so hard hitting stuff

Great book. Dantès' Inferno, so to speak.Just started an 8 part adaptation of the 2nd best book I've ever read.
The Count of Monte Cristo
Just watching the penultimate episode. It's really good. A slow burner, if you'll excuse the pun.Smoke on apple tv is promising after first couple of episodes.
Written by Dennis Lehane of shutter island, boardwalk empire, the wire, mystic river etc which should give you an idea of the tone to expect.
Its about fire department and cops on the hunt for two separate serial arsonists.
Summed it up perfectly. The opening scene is a belter mindFinished Untamed recently. Bit run of the mill but the scenery in Yosemite is spectacular and Eric Bana and Sam Neill are always worth watching.
Yeah. That's mad. Especially for people like me who suffer from vertigo.Summed it up perfectly. The opening scene is a belter mind
I get that when I’m looking at holidays, I dinnae ken vertigo.Yeah. That's mad. Especially for people like me who suffer from vertigo.![]()

Saw the first episode and took pains to miss the rest. Paper-thin pretext for a show.Watching Destination X. A poor mans' Traitors. Is it just me or are the players a bit thick?Or maybe some are just acting it.I like Rob Brydon,my mum and I went to see him a few years back and he was hilarious, but I think he's on to a loser with this.
Have you read Papillion?Just started an 8 part adaptation of the 2nd best book I've ever read.
The Count of Monte Cristo
Have you read Papillion?
I read it years ago before the film with Dustin Hoffman came out. I enjoyed the film and the book. Some similarities with Monte Cristo plotwise. Just watched first two episodes and it's gathering pace with some dastardly villains.I have not, but really should.
