Tv series

Anybody watched a telly series called Outer Range?

Apparently it's a combination of western and sci-fi.

Yup. I loved it and am looking forward to the new series.

I can’t quite say why Jimmy as I’m not really into sci-fi or westerns. It’s also quite languid in pacing which normally has me a bit fidgety. But I thought it was cracking.

Suspect it’s a bit marmite, but I recommend giving it a go.

3 episodes into "Red Eye" on STV on demand. The plot is ridiculous and way OTT but it's entertaining nonetheless. About a British doctor who gets extradited to China for a suspected murder but believes he's been framed as part of a wider conspiracy. Lots of shenanigans go on during the flight back to Beijing. Good fun!

I enjoyed it. Very silly but the pacing was spot on.

I don't know what to make of the new Rebus on BBC. 2 episodes in and I think I'm hooked but that might just be because I've lived away from Edinburgh for too long and the bang on accents and stunning shots of the city pull the heart strings.

Richard Rankin is a much better Rebus than Stott or Hannah, much closer to the Rebus I imagine after reading the books. I might need to reserve judgement until I've seen this out, it just doesn't seem to be going anywhere at the moment.

Enjoying it.

The rant from the radge from Gary tank commander about a united ireland had me in tears.

Not for me. Lots of Weedgie actors doing exaggerated Edinburgh accents. Like Looking After JoJo. Trying too hard to be gritty and authentic. Rebus just comes over as a thug. Not the thoughtful but flawed character in the books.
City looks good though.

For me this is the only redeeming feature in the whole series. By trying to put a bit more of an edge to his character they have only succeeded in over doing it. He hardly does any legitimate police work. I've watched three episodes and that's my lot. Very disappointed.

He's a decent actor but this series has him much too dark. He's hardly done any legitimate police work so far. By trying to give more edge to his character they have just made him too dark. In the books he is shown to have flaws but in this series he is just a bent cop. So a no from me.

This is my main gripe with anything set in Edinburgh. Are there no actors from the east coast? Even some of the words they use like pure. 'You're pure hurting me! '( from a previous series) The guy that plays Daryll Christie is from Leith I think.

To those complaining about Glaswegian (?) actors and not having East Coasters when drama is set in Edinburgh, I give you Trainspotting..... apart from one actor from Porty, the main characters were from the West, mid North and even the Bluetoon, not fogetting an Englishman. Didn't go too badly!

BIG G

It's not about where they're from, I'm not suggesting affirmative action for East Coast actors.

it's getting the accent right. You make a good point about Trainspotting. I read that none of the cast knew that Jonny Lee Miller was English until they stopped filming.

I agree with @Sanchopanza about Looking After JoJo. Robert Carlyle's accent was brutal.

Might give this a try. Horses and Sci-Fi so something for the Señora and me both! 😆

I used to think this was the most annoying man in Scotland. I never watched monarch of the glen or whatever it was but he used to pop adverts. Sounded much like Ewan Mc but somehow worse

Watching The Gentleman, a Guy Ritchie thing. Very Smoking Guns but quite good.

If anyone liked the walking Dead,Those that live is well worth a watch.
Rick Grimes story after he left, only 6 eps

Watching Romanzo Criminale the telly series as was recommended.

On episode 7 of series 1.

And I've noticed one of the characters does the same as big Genny in Gomorrah.

Plays with his ring (oooer missus).

Been watching The X Files for the first time since the 90s on All4 recently. Near the end of the first series.

I've been surprised by how well it holds up actually. Pap but thoroughly enjoyable pap. That said, I much prefer all the freak of nature/monster/supernatural episodes to the overarching alien conspiracy ones. They've all got Scully in them though so it doesn't matter 😍

Having watched the seriously good Band of Brothers last year i am now having a go at The Pacific.

Just watched both series of Romanzo Criminale over the last 2 days.

Excellent telly show. If you've watched the film you'll enjoy the telly series.

Any yous watched Confessions of A Teenage Fraudster on BBC 3 on the iPlayer?

Scots laddie. Credit Card fraud. By the time he was 20 he'd spent over a £1,000,000.

It's looks like it's on YaTube as well.
