It reads like a fishing expedition Kenny. "This is the guy Hibs and/or Preston might look at if they decided to get rid of their present manager"That would be madness.

"Steve Clarke has as much chance of being appointed as Steve Evans."Jesus H, someone i know and trust has just told me that Steve Clarke has been mentioned...

ArnoldThere must be another Steve Clarke?
50 Upgrades of Gray. These rumours are clearly being started by David Grey to scare us into wanting him to stay!
Missing the S at the endI take it noth-ing is happen_ing with Danny ing

He'll cost a lot of money. No minutes in his legs for a very long time.I'd rather carry on without Danny Ings.
Decent in his day, but I'm no sure he's the wiley veteran type we need.
Speed and aggression his best qualities. Don't really get better as you rapidly approach retirement age. NEXTHe'll cost a lot of money. No minutes in his legs for a very long time.
So that will be the same model as Hertz thenI have lived in Crawley for 40 Years
Steve Evans took over as Manager of Crawley Town in 2007 and built a very exciting football team beating Swindon, Derby and Torquay before losing 1-0 to Man United at Old Trafford in the 2010 FA Cup in a very close game.
They were promoted to the Football league the following year and gained a further promotion the following year to League 1. Willie Gibson (who played for many Scottish clubs including Kilmarnock and St Johnstone) was a very exciting winger in this team.
During the time I was manager of a non-league side called Horley Town about 6 miles from Crawley. The highlight of our Pre-Season friendlies was each year we hosted Crawley Town.
He always brought a strong side and and we could count on a crowd of 1500-2000.
He was always very friendly and good company after matches.
I was aware of some of the financial stories that surrounded him at Boston and other places.
His teams always played on the front foot and were fiercely competitive (aggressive?) Paul Raynor (ex Nottingham Forest and Swansea) has been a constant Assistant/Coach throughout.
He would absolutely expect his teams to go anywhere and win, there would be no games where we would go out not lose.
That probably sounds like a glowing endorsement. It isn't. Its my view of him as a Football Manager, his teams are highly motivated, organised and play on the front foot.
I'm really torn on whether i would want him managing Hibs.
I won't comment on the negative aspects of his character as I do not know them as facts (yes there are touchline bans which are facts but I'm thinking more about the financial and non footballing issues).
If I was pushed to make a choice it would be a No from me. Whilst we might see immediate improvement under Steve Evans and exciting football if you look back at the clubs he has managed none of them have thrived after he has left.
I'd prefer us to go down the route of a younger progressive manager who will build something lasting, give us an identity on the pitch that would survive any managerial changes, something like the Brighton FC model. Maybe that's a bit pie in the sky or romantic but to me Hibs is more than just a football club.
You've really only mentioned something hes done 15/16yrs ago. Watching over the years, to me his biggest achievement I can see is him losing 50 stones.I have lived in Crawley for 40 Years

Fair point, I have only commented on something from a long time ago but that was my personal experience of him as a Manager and a person.Evans would be a dreadful appointment for the HIbs imo

A very unadventurous appointment if Hibs went down that route imo, and one I very much hope we dont do!
EhSigned him on a loan-turned-permanent for Hibs in an FM0-something save once. Nothing special but did better than Kevin McCann playing out of position.
Don't know how that reflects on his skills as a manager, but it's got to count for something, right?
That's what I'm thinking.
He did well with them but he hasn't managed a proper football team so it would be a bit of a hit and hope move by Hibs.Ivory Coast manager anyone?

I have a feeling its going to be yer man fae St Johnstone.
Don't know why.
The boy Evans being touted by the rags has come out and said there has been no approach from Hibs and he has no intentions of going anywhere anyway so that's a relief.Wouldn't have been on our shortlist, wouldn't worry.

He has said Hibs haven't approached him, and he is staying where he is anyway.Fair point, I have only commented on something from a long time ago but that was my personal experience of him as a Manager and a person.
I not really taken any interest in what he has done since he left Crawley other than Teams he managed before and after Crawley have fallen on hard times after he left. Whether he is responsible for that or not it is quite a coincidence.
A quick edit there HammiWas never convinced he was an option tbf, always reeked of an agent tryna shop his client more than anything else.
We weren't even the only club named.
We just happened to be the club that went and sacked their manager first.

The rags print utter dross. Simple. They know diddly about anything and are as knowledgable as they are honestWas never convinced he was an option tbf, always reeked of an agent tryna shop his client more than anything else.

As I said to @Tiger Prima on Friday. If I could go to the bookies and stick £20 on him to be the next Hibs manager, that small bet would likely put him in the top two or three quoted options because there won't be a huge amount of money being wagered. The rags print utter dross. Roy Keane anyone?he was at the Celtic game the day I would defo take him
