Peter Cormack RIP

The one with 39 posts is there. It’s just your one that wasn’t required as there was already a thread
Right thanks. I posted mine because even though I knew there was another one the message I get says "can't be found" or similar. I still can't see it. Which heading/group is it in?

You would think that with the sad passing on Thursday night of one of Edinburgh's best ever footballers who happened to play for one of Edinburgh's main clubs, that the Evening News would see fit to report on this, and maybe do a tribute in today's edition. Nothing.

Actually there is something...in the "World of Sport" section it mentions in a small article, that Liverpool have paid tribute to Peter Cormack the former Liverpool midfielder, who also played for Hibernian amongst some other clubs.

Hoping the Scotsman or even Scotland on Sunday can have an appropriate tribute.

Saw his first game at Broomfield against Airdrie. My dad said that because of his unusual running style he'd never make a footbal player. How wrong he was, he scored on his debut that day at 16 yrs old. One of my greatest heroes in a hibs strip, along side Scott, Quinn, Stanton, Hamilton, Stevenson, McNamee etc in the 60's. RIP Peter and thanks for the memories.:7::7::7:

Just back from the stadium where I stood clapping with around a couple of hundred others, as Peter's funeral cortege slowly passed round by the Famous Five Stand at Albion Place. Really nice to see such a good turnout of fans, young and old, there to pay their respects to a great Hibernian.
Good on ye GM. As an expat, it is great to hear of this celebration of one of the best-ever no.10s I have seen.

Even if he hadnae been a great guy, he could have snuck in to heaven at the back post!

RIP

Remembered I wrote this article below about Peter all of seventeen years ago when I'd just began doing a bit of blogging. Worth a look for for the great comments about Peter it received from old fans of his clubs, and one in particular from his son, Peter Cormack junior, who passed the article's praise on to his dad.

Great piece Stu, nothing there that couldn’t have been written or said any better.. Even, then it shows how talented and ahead of his time he was. Would love to have seen with Law and Best !.
Cheers mate. Now that is a mouthwatering thought, Peter Cormack lining up alongside Denis Law and George Best. I'd have paid good money to see that one!

Great read Stu, Peter Jr an old school mate of a few of us Porty Hibbies and his dad had some tremendous memorabilia in their house. A sad day today.
A few folk at albion place today saying Hibs should have promoted the cortège passing by today a lot more, not sure if the club did anything

Hope you're keeping well bud. I can just imagine the memorabilia that Peter would have had. There was a man with a great career.

I have never felt that Peter had the recognition and aclaim from Hibs that he should have done. For me, one of our greatest men of all time and should be recognised as such. He was the real thing and we, the fans, all loved him. I remember someone saying to me that he was the first ever Hibs player who had a fan club.

My old man was at the funeral yesterday and tells me that as well as the usuals (Jackie Mac, Ralph, Bennie etc) also there was Alex Miller and Kevin Keegan (well done sir)

He also tells that the bouquet from Liverpool was extremely impressive.
What was Hibs tribute if any ?.

That’s one thing about Liverpool, they never forget and they remember their own.

Kevin Keegan was a close friend of Peter's ever since their Liverpool days.
Heard Steve Heighway was there as well.
