Any chance you can remind me of the other scorers in the 6-2 win at Pittodrie in 1968?Played with Hibs from 1961-1980, I think only Lewis can touch him for longevity of Hibs career, without the breaks.
RIP Peter
What a player he was………..had balance, poise and an elegance to match. Graced every Club he played for, a true Hibs legend.Feel very saddened by this news. Peter was definitely one of my boyhood heroes too. Not only for HIbs but I watched him at Forest too where he was basicially in a declining team that he was too good for. Then along came Shankly and snapped him up of course.
Played 70-odd games at the City Ground and what a player he was. Scored a lot of his goals through his aerial ability, in fact he was an all-round player and could do pretty much anything. He was as hard as nails, could go past a man, good passer and finisher. Always remember the way he ran, on the balls of his feet which looked a little like a prance. Picked his legs up high behind him when running.
One of the best players Hibs ever had for sure. Wonderful footballer.
Rest in Peace, Peter

Picturing him running as I read that. Met him a few times when he done the race nights with Willie McEwan. A lovely guy he was too.Always remember the way he ran, on the balls of his feet which looked a little like a prance. Picked his legs up high behind him when running.
A great quiz question.I wonder if he was the only player to have played under both Shankly brothers?
Nice and fitting tribute to PC from Liverpool FC.Messaged my boss to inform him of Peter's passing. He's a Liverpool fan.
His reply was ' Truly great player '.
That’s my recollection of him, actually.Nice tribute to Peter on the official site...apart from forgetting to mention that he was also an assistant manager at Hibs during Alex Millers first few years.
When I done the Anfield stadium tour a few years ago and told staff working at the stadium that I was a Hibs fan from Edinburgh, and mentioned Peter Cormack, they all said he was a Liverpool great. He had legendary status at the club, being a key part of Shankly's great team of the early 1970's.Nice and fitting tribute to PC from Liverpool FC.
And not mentioning he was Hibs youngest ever goalscorer….until Jimmy O’Rourke took it three weeks later.Nice tribute to Peter on the official site...apart from forgetting to mention that he was also an assistant manager at Hibs during Alex Millers first few years.
When the hibs came over to Werl in Germany for pre-season training Peter and Alex miller came to my house for a brew and we spent an hour going through my old programs, he was a gentleman. RIPVery sad.
Another hero gone.
RIP Peter, you made many Hibs fans very happy.
PS....I have argued using Cormack, O'Rourke and Stanton as examples when the ' too young to step up to Hibs first team' are in full flight.View attachment 1537660 years ago Hibs rack up a 4-2 win over the Hundogs, with goals from Willie Hamilton my all time favourite player for the Hibernians, Pat Quinn, and a double from a young Peter Cormack.
I was there with several family members from Blackfriars Street, Little Ireland. We beat Real Madrid three days previous to this in which this very young guy scored in the 2-0 win, which I also was at.
If this wasn't enough for a young me, that less than ten years later an older me, watched the greatest game in history against the Merricks, with a couple of the Blackie Boys who attended the aforementioned games.

Very good point G. “If they’re good enough they’re old enough” seemed to bear fruit back then.PS....I have argued using Cormack, O'Rourke and Stanton as examples when the ' too young to step up to Hibs first team' are in full flight.
Thank fuck others in the past ignored these gentlemen/ladies.
