Man City

The other side of Manchester were no angels when it came financial irregularities, then, no one dared challenge Fergie. City no longer have a Pep to avoid being challenged. You would think a deduction at least, a demotion at the most. A fine is irrelevant.
Not sure what you mean, Man Utd have been the precise opposite of what's happened at City. Bought using debt, owners who actively take money out of the club and yet they still produce a profit- although significantly smaller than it used to be. Turnover to wage ratio is about 40%.

Should have the whole library thrown at them. Dodgy oil money from a country with no human rights and cheating like hell. If they are let off may as well just shut football down as it is utterly pointless as a sporting endeavour.

The sporting aspect disappeared a long time ago, as in many “sports”, where greed takes over and success is measured in cash rather than trophies. Comparisons between teams always come down to “budgets” nowadays rather than up-and-coming prospects. “The game’s buggered” as my old man said.

City appealing the decision claiming the sponsorship deals were funded by the Abu Dhabi government not the Man City owners. Not sure how that makes a difference as the major sponsors, the owners, and the UAE are basically one and the same thing.

Edit: Bet the get off with it on some kind of technicality

Thats utterly irrelevant. They have being doing 2 sets of figures plus dual contracts plus non compliance. They have no case. They are grandstanding and only making it worse stringing it out. There is the political element to it with contracts being threatened between uk and uae but the pl must look at it from a purely football point of view. Justice must be done and seen to be done or it will totally undermine the pl. Jan 26 seems to be the date when they are likely to get the final punishment. There is no acas appeal so they can only appeal to the high court which has dismissed them before. Plus the small matter of a near £1bn lawsuit from clubs in the premier league. They are abhorrent organisation and i hope they get hammered.

Will they make it “the comical corrupt league” or “the best corrupt league in the world”
Surely with the riches they get they will demand justice for themselves? If not then that league is fucked. And everyone will know it for what it is.

The only thing that will work then is 30pt deduction for 4 or 5 seasons meaning no europe and top players leaving. Titles have to be voided too. That should suffice to get them back to square one and the nonentities they were before their industrial cheating.

Scruples oot the windae. Greedy bastards the lot of them. “Sporting integrity my arse” as Jim Royle would surely say.

The noises starting suggest that they’ll be punished, but probably with the caveat they’ll be able to maintain their innocence. All monies won transferred to the teams that missed out, no relegation and carry on. Will probs cost them a billion, small change.
Abu Dhabi probably too big a 🇬🇧 partner to humiliate substantially and their investment in Manchester alone too big to lose. Because let’s face it, if they’re given the kind of punishment they obviously deserve they’ll ditch everything and relationships country- country will be significantly affected. Our government will take the view it’s just not worth it.
Burnham has effectively said so already.

The threats have started.
This is the state it has got itself in, Abu Dhabi will clearly influence the biggest corruption in English sport. Absolutely no chance that City will get their justified punishment.
it will be spun around in circles, full of hypocritical "sporting integrity" palaver.
Add in the clubs wont vote them out due to financial fear it shows how the EPL, despite its billions put in every year by SKY etc, is a financial basket case.

UAE threatens Burnham over Man City: We’ll pull billions out of UK — The Telegraph

Aye this was one of the most obvious reasons never to allow state-owned or controlled ownership of fitbaw clubs. Never mind a state as unscrupulous as that one. They've made their beds, etc.

Thing is, they're saying the clubs won't vote for it - but aren't clubs meant to be for the fans? What does the average fan want?

The whole thing is stinking and another sad indicator of how much the game has drifted from what it's meant to be about.

I want to say something about rampant capitalism working until it doesn't; but I'm not actually sure if that's what this is or not, considering it's state money and corruption.

That is their technicality get out of jail free card. How to prove that the sponsors and the government are different entities is the crux of the argument, and if they can do that, then they are home free.

They’ll do that without any problem as Andy Burnham (who) was singing their praises on Thursday and they’ve threatened to pull billions of investment cash out of England. Don’t think the Scots see much of it. Game down there is f.cked

Yet you can see the headline “UK to lose out on billions”
As you say, like any of the cash would see anywhere outside of England.

I think some of the cash was earmarked for the NHS. If that's the case, the devolved nations would get their percentage.

Why is the Prime minister getting involved with meetings re Man City?
Is not like he has nothing more important to do!
This should be left to sport, stinks of the govt pressure on the FA to beware of financial repercussions by the UAE.
Sporting integrity is way down the list on this i think.
The corruption will carry on to aide investment from a foreign govt run fund.
It stinks.
I’d be very surprised if they get their just desserts while the corrupt govt is involved.
Sport and govt should never mix, FIFA has always said that politics is never to interfere within the game..
But then again, that game is long long gone

If the whole shebang crashes and burns doon there, and Ally "fat sally" McCoist looses his job "commentating", I'm all for it
I'm in a minority here Emeraldo, because I actually like McMoist as a co-commentator.
