Little things that annoy you.

No. I left school at 16 and started full time emplyment. i have been working and paying tax for 40 years.
So did I. And I paid bus fares when I did.

Apart from when I knew any of the drivers.

Then you stuck 2p in and got a day saver.

:giggley:. A £2.20 fare is hardly going to tip them into poverty. People in full time employment, are pissed off with the amount of freebies going around, which we don't qualify for.

Oh dear.
So it's the wee green eyed monster giving you problems.

Never mind, one day (hopefully) you too will get the bus pass freebie, together with all the other 'perks' of old age.

I’m so sorry for you , so the sodjers that won the war for you shouldny have a bus pass either 🤷‍♂️

Maybe we could do like a brave new world type thing where the non productive get euthanised when they reach retirement age.

I mean it makes sense because all we do is moan about everything.

Hopper tapped a couple of times, no money was paid. Don't know if things changed once all the buses had real cameras instead of 99% dummies.

As long as coins or coin was put in you got the day saver.

Our pet jambo works on the buses so it was quite decent of him 😁

I see the pensioner's are getting the Winter Fuel Allowance re-instated, another freebie. Everybody feels the cold.

It's different for us. You're out all day working and keeping warm.
We're stuck in the house all day watching shite on TV and sucking on Werther Originals (not a euphemism) to keep warm.

Actually, I won't get the extra cash, I'm too well off with my final salary pension.
:coffee1:

One hopes you never require/claim any form of benefit or entitlement either in old age or need.

Perhaps you should move to the US or somewhere else with no welfare state.

In fact stop using the NHS in time of need.

I thought that's what a caring society was all about, looking after the young and the old. I don't particularly like paying tax but if it helps the likes of my mum and dad to be able to eat and keep warm then it's ok

Eh? Why do they need food and heat? They should be out working.

The poor hoose is good for the likes of them and us.

Well I was working today.

I thought 'its no fair getting a free bus pass to get me up to Loanheid so I got a lift.

Got some money (cash in hand (cue outrage) and the lassie just drove me hame.

The £8.80 I saved on bus fares just bought me a couple of cans to sip on.

Pensioner heaven.

He's got to be at it. Surely no one really thinks free bus travel and winter payments for the elderly is wrong.

Pensioner's these days have two or three pension's, which they paid into, A lot of pensioner's make more money a month than working people.
Plus the equity tied up in various properties.

I worked for the NHS for 21 years. I know how it function's. Would you tell an Imigrant not to use the NHS, in time of need?

No they don't. I only have the state pension and I know loads of lads who work in the building trade who are in the same boat.

Do you honestly think other folk working minimum wage and needing state benefits to survive put into a private pension?

Employers are obliged to provide a pension now.
They only have to contribute 3% which is never adding up to very much.

Yes NOW. Many thousands worked well before that was introduced.

And if you think that every employer pays the pension contribution then you are mistaken.

My dad is retiring in 2 years and all he'll get is state pension. I asked my mum why he never got a private pension and she said "he's in the building trade. They never even thought about that". People with multiple private pensions and property must be in the smallest percentage in Scotland, and for me, it was churlish for Conner to suggest it. My dad's worked hard his whole life and has fucking earned that bus pass.

For some older folk, that bus pass is a lifesaver. It gives them the opportunity to get out the house and see and talk to people. A lot live alone and I can't fathom anyone would want to take that away.

Fwiw if I could have my time over again I'd be putting money aside for a private pension as soon as I started working, but never did. I'm advising my kids to try and set 10% away for their retirement.

The key words there are “which they paid into”. In other words, they possibly gave up certain luxuries in order to afford themselves a reasonably comfortable retirement. They also pay tax on pension income just like working people do on their wages.

I remember when that was introduced and I was asked if I wanted tae pay in. Wages were not that good that I could afford tae pay in so I didnae. Last job I had I paid in whether I wanted tae or not. Got just over a grand when I stopped working.

Building Trade Workers are all self employed now. How much of their earnings do they declare to HMRC?
Personal Allownce rates, i bet.

No they are not. Still lots of guys with small firms.

Most of the rest work through agencies.

No everyone earns enough even when self employed to pay into pensions.

As for HMRC maybe rather than looking at the workers look at the customers who want to pay cash to save money.
