Andy Goram

I know people will say 'Don't speak ill of the dead', ' Don't say anything at all then' and ' Let things lie and remember the good'
However the young lad came to this country a fresh faced athletic all rounder, who as man got sucked into the murky waters of the Scottish shame of Sectarianism.

RIP
As someone who works with terminally ill people everyday there's simply no need for that at this time. Why bring Sectarianism into the thread when it's a tribute to him - as a Hibernian player.

Respect now reflect later.

As you have read I did not comment intentionally on here when he was diagnosed.
As someone who has lost a terminally ill son, who worked in the hospice, as a nurse he worked in immediately prior to dying there, who most on here bar a few newcomers knew and knew personally, know that he would have agreed with my comments 100%.
Knowing him more than anyone I suspect that if still alive he would have posted similar. Hospice worker or not.

Doesn't matter when you made comment my post still stands as far as I'm concerned.
Whilst I sympathise for the loss of your son I would have posted the same comment towards him if he posted what you did - nurse or not it doesn't give you any more right.
Let's leave it there.

The Proclaimer would have respected your right to your view point, however probably followed by a respectful, fuck off!
Let's leave it there.

As I said on the previous thread
Hope he is now at peace.
What a fucking goalie.
Unbelievably good.

He seemed to enjoy the company of a lot of Celtic minded folk for someone supposedly a bigot? These Celtic minded folks were also very close to Andy Goram. I sometimes think in these situations we much prefer the myth. RIP.

Jan new years day 1988 at Tynecastle 0-0. Best Hibs performance I've ever seen. Apparently he was up drinking beyond 4am in the Willowbrae Hotel....

Sounds about right.

Hadn’t heard about the Willowbrae story.
Impressive.

Before or after the game?

He was a decent fella at Hibs. Tales of his behaviour on the flight back from Budapest…..

Tragic end.

Although not entirely unexpected. It's still terribly sad to lose someone so relatively young . He was a superb keeper for us and for Scotland . Rest easy big fella

I remember being at that derby at Tynecastle where we lost 3-1 and Goram saved us from an absolute hiding.
The best display of goalkeeping I have ever witnessed.
Hearts were just a better team than us in the 80's and tended to show it when we played them. They also played above themselves in derbies and had a reliable matchwinner in John Robertson. We just couldn't compete with that. It was a complete contrast to the 70's when it was the other way round with Hibs being the far better team and therefore winning just about every derby. They only beat is twice during that entire decade.

And typically for those cvnts we started to play them 4 times a year when they had the upper hand

The mentality from Alex Miller towards the derby was all wrong. It was only another available 2 points.... I laugh how at every opportunity he let's it be known they didn't beat us tactically...

Almost as bad as Paul Hanlon saying the Scottish cup semi final October 2020 was "just another game".

What myths that Kenny?

schizophrenia?
I'm no psychiatrist but it must have been selective.
Oh aye and his flute gesturing and wearing a black armband on the pitch for his pal Billy 'King Rat ' Wright, leader of the sectarian Catholic slaughter machine the UVF, who thought that they were too namby pamby, forming the LVF, before being assassinated. Keeping sectarianism alive after death did not seem to bother Andy.

Deary me, what a petty parochial man you are...do you not see by posting this garbage you're simply stirring the Scottish sectarian pot - something as Hibs fans we don't need to be part of?
It seems like you're something of an institution around here - maybe it's time you were in one.
I hope other Bouncers are bigger than this and just add their respects on this thread to our greatest ever goalkeeper.
Don't even look for a reply - and you should change your name to AGENDAMAN7.

Thanks for your wise advice. Appreciated.

For what it's worth, Britains goalkeeper at the Olympics in 1948, picked by no stranger to Hibernian, Matt Busby. Twice FA Cup, European Cup medal winner and debuting for Scotland in the famous 3-2 win against England in 1967 at the tender age of 36, is the best goalkeeper that I have seen grace Easter Road.

Didnae care too much for him as a person outside football. Progressive (read right wing Tory) Councillor in Edinburgh, in the 70s.
