A Photographic History Of Hibernian Football Club

Not against standing in principal.Just that now that I'm about to turn 60 it feals more painful than when I was 8.

I have read this on here on and off for years. I sit in the west stand lower, quite close to the famous five. When the young team moved to FF Upper, we could barely hear them most games. Now that are back in the East they come over LOUD and clear? I am at a loss why we should have the singing section behind that goal.

I think only the FF has the right build for a safe standing section?

And if we were as full and rowdy as any away Hearts, Hun or Celtic support are in the south then I think it could generate the right amount of noise.

That shady wee corner in the North they got wasn't a good idea.

If the East could hold accommodate the seats, I'd have them right in the middle, the rest around them would get sucked into it imo.

Almost fifteen minutes of footage from the 1949-1950 season:

'Rangers won the league with a 2–2 draw in their last match, away to Third Lanark, a game in which Rangers took a 2–0 lead before Thirds fought back to 2–2. Another goal for Third Lanark would have handed the title to Hibernian.

A few days previously, Rangers had drawn 0–0 with Hibs at Ibrox before a crowd of 101,000, the largest crowd to watch a League match in Britain since the war, a record that still stands. Had Hibs won this match they would have become champions.'

Hibs were one point away from winning the league - with a vastly superior goal average and goal difference.

Interesting post.
Only spoiled by telling me my opinion.
I’ve done all the standing on the terraces stuff, for a year or two.
I’m perfectly happy to be seated in the FF Upper, and content not to dictate to others what their opinion is.
I can't for the life of me work out what your blethering about doc? How do you go about dictating "your opinion" to you? I've given a personal opinion on why and where safe standing should be brought back at ER. I thought this was a forum, not a kiss each others backside love in. Or are you annoyed your included in my sitting down brigade remark. If you are disabled I truly apologise. If not, ffs grow up. I would rather stand. You'd rather sit. Yoopy fuckin do!

"Standing at games provides a far better atmosphere and the "rather sit" brigade can't deny that."
I can deny anything I like, and I have done in court.

I'd appreciate if you didn't mention kissing backsides thanks, this isn't the forum for that.

Claim to fame, I found that photo originally ( I think?). I lived in Midcalder in the late 80's/ early 1990's and my next door neighbour was the daughter of the Hibs captain when they won the cup in 1902, James Hogg. When she found out I was a Hibs supporter, she opened a drawer in her house and gave me two photographs of Hibs, one of which was the one above.

She proudly told me in her broad West Calder accent that her Dad was the first protestant to captain Hibs when showing me the photo.

I got this for Christmas. Full of photos and newspaper cuttings. It's going to take an age to get through. Probably the best thing will be to pick it up now and again and do a few pages at a time!

Here's a photo of the cover and a random page.
