World cup 2026

It is very humid here in Boston. So it says it’s 33 degrees but it feels like 42 and you are running through treacle while someone is pinching your nose. It showed after the first hydration break - Scottish players were walking or standing most the time
Yeah, noticed the drop-off in tempo in other games too, notably Brazil v Morocco

Shankland is a penalty box goalscorer.
If you create chances for him in the box, he will score goals.
The problem is in games like last night when there are barely any chances being created in the box, he is lost as he doesn't have much more to his game.
We will be back to 4-5-1 for both the Morocco and the Brazil matches with Che Adams ploughing a lone furrow up front.
Shankland will only be brought on if we are desperate for a goal.

I think we'll be back to a 4-5-1 for the rest of the tournament too, which might suit us. I hope we see McGinn on the right, or more centrally as I feel he's wasted on the left. It's not his more natural position and he just doesn't look comfortable in that position. No surprise that his goal came more from his natural position on the right.

You just feel that Clarke is always very cautious.

He needs to take the handbrake off a little against Morocco.

Devils advocate for a moment here.

Did you watch the first half of the Morocco match yesterday?
We go too open on them and they will tear us to shreds.

There’s incremental improvements over time, but I think until we go into major tournaments with a much bigger goal threat we’re going to struggle to push through to the next level.

If we were good enough to keep clean sheets more often than not we’d be fine, but against the better sides we rarely do.

I think it might be the 3-5-1-1 we revert to, and we might see a few changes in personnel.

We can lose the next 2...and probably go out.
We needed more than 1-0

Or we can have a go.

Scotland are very good going forward, and very clinical.

Shots to goals average in qualifying against Denmark and Greece was incredible.

Our defence will run through a wall to keep cleansheets too.
