Working my way through a bottle as well
Working my way through a bottle as well
One Dutch expression for having one over the eight is literally, looking deeply into the bottle ('diep in het fles kijken').Just bought in a bottle of Tomontoul 10 yr old on a whim.
Up till now I can't say I have been really disappointed by any of the single malts I've been sipping since I made it a thing after retirement so long may that last!

I’ll be in the Tomintoul area for a few days next month so might do some sniffing around as it’s one I’ve not tried nor noticed among Tesco’s club card deals. One Dutch expression for having one over the eight is literally, looking deeply into the bottle ('diep in het fles kijken').
Have now looked keenly into the Tomintoul bottle and can confirm that it is indeed the 'gentle malt' it says it is.
From Glenlivet, it is sweetish, warm and salty. A normal 40% alc. and all round decent. But probs too dear over here? Cost me €40

Lovely!Any weather’s good up there really. Got a nice lodge for the family for a few days.
Duly christened. A pleasant dram, almost liqueur-like, probably due to the Bourbon cask? Wouldn’t make my top ten but not to be sniffed at.This one fell into my trolley at Morrison’s this morning and at £23 (from £34) I didn’t have the heart to put it back. Will christen it tonight.
Just cracked it. Absolutely lovely. Mates got Oban 14, Old Pultney 10 and Glenfiddich Vat 01. We're having a party in Malaga!Off early doors tomorrow to play golf in Malaga. Planning on picking up a bottle of Tamdhu 12 in duty free. Very similar to Macallan but nowhere near as expensive.
Ooh nice. Might need to get one of them
Anybody got a whisky globe ? Got one off gumtree it’s a thing of beauty.

Tragic news mate. My sincere condolences. It was needed mate. We had just attended one of the twins funeral.
Hopefully I'll no need to attend another one of the bairns funerals before my clogs are popped.
Oh that's horrible to hear. One of my best friends lost one of her twins a couple of years ago. She was 20. It's an undeniably tough time but it sounds like friends and family are gathering around which will be a huge help in the short and longer term.It was needed mate. We had just attended one of the twins funeral.

The 105 is one of my all time favouritesOpened my birthday present just now and poured myself a small one. The Glenfarclas 105 is one of the finest I have tasted. A week on Tuesday, by sheer coincidence, we’re dining at the Mash Tun in Aberlour for my wife’s birthday. It just happens to have a massive selection of Glenfarclas whiskies - A 52 bottle collection featuring one single cask for every year from 1952 - 2008. I may be gone for some time.
Huff tae put that on me 'investigate' listThe 105 is one of my all time favourites
