I've noticed watching the football, when the adverts start, it's usually Bet 365/William Hills, then Wonga loans. The ease of online gambling, and payday loans is going to become a big problem. Gambling advertising should be banned, just like smoking is.

In the article she says that her and her partner used these payday loans on a regular basis when they were both working and had no issue paying them back. I guess she's just omitted to tell them she is no longer working.

Someone unemployed in my family asked her mother for500 to buy prezzies for her kids and was given a quick rebuke and zero money. Some people think the world really does owe them a living....then again hearts is yet another subject

The interest rates are well known to be mentally high so anyone who takes out one of these payday loans and claims to have not known about the excessive interest is either a liar or a total numpty.

I agree with ForzaHibs about this and to be honest I reckon she has went to the papers to try and get the debt wiped by using 'aww my poor wee kids' as a sob story.

How are her kids meant to learn about the value of money etc if their mother is being completely irresponsible with it?

On a serious note - a word of warning to anyone thinking about using online loan applications (Wonga is but one example), criminal gangs in South East Asia, mainly Pakistan, are intercepting these communications and contacting unsuspecting folk purporting to be the genuine loan company. They then dupe people out of cash by saying things like they need to pay the first monthly instalment up front as a gesture of good will, then it's followed up by a request for further cash because of the UK government tax rules, then there's some other bizarre reasons to pay more up front. The applicants are told to use Western Union or Ukash (both of which are SE Asian organisations). People are so desperate for the loan, they go along with it until it's too late and they've lost more than they stood to gain in most cases.Then they phone me. I get these jobs at least twice a week and, other than record the crime, there's fuck all we can do. People in the west are unwittingly funding the very terrorism our troops are out there battling against. How's that for irony.

With most online scams there is an element of stupidity on the part of the person who has been duped, however it's easy to see why they've gone along with it when there's the hollow promise of the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow

Katie-co took out the loans, but her birth certificate states "Sevkie" so legally that is her name.

Now she only USES the nickname Katie and if her friends keep calling her Sevki, she will boycott their parties, and if they call her that again......she will burn their houses down.

So did I; Barringer Square. I liked Tooting Bec! Although I put on about two stone in six months - the Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani food was SO good.

The wee takeaway next to Tooting Bec tube used to do lamb Jalfrezi, rice, naan, and a can of Lilt for a fiver. I was there four nights a week.

I was reading someone's copy of The Sun yesterday on the way up to Dingwall and I read the same article then. Think the only difference is that The Mirror calls it 140 a fortnight and The Sun called it 70 a week that the woman has left to live on.

Christmas is a luxury, not a right or a need and as such there's no need to put yourself in that position now or at any other time of the year. Kids need love, nurturing, stimulation, food in their bellies, roofs over their heads and clothes on their back; they don't need "loads of games for their Xbox, a new TV and DVD player each, new bikes and hundreds of presents under the tree".
