Wife and I were at the Wee Hibs' game against Dundee United tonight in the least-known of the 3 stadiums in Tannadice Street. And they were worthy winners, although they should have scored at least double what they did because of the amount of excellent chances they made. Not a poor Hibs player on the park, including the 2 youngsters making their debuts at that level. Far too many good performances to pick out one or two, but let me finish by saying you MUST get yourself along to the Final whenever and wherever it's played because it may just be against the Jamboes! Well done, laddies.

How did we set up formation wise?

3 - 4- 3, I think.
Gillie in the middle of the back three, and what a player this laddie is, although a bit small for a central defender at the moment. Then Shanklnd went off injured and McSporran came more to the fore and he is also a good defender.
Middle 4 well marshalled by stand-in skipper McDonald and he was the beating heart of the team last night. No' scared to take anyone on and then has the ability to pick the right pass, as he did many times. But he was backed up by Burns and Downie, and they worked hard to get right into the game as Dundee United had the better of the first 15 minutes. Up front, the other MacDonald led the line very well, and was supplied with good crosses from Calder who is fast, and I mean very fast. Then there was McMurdo and this laddie must have had his best game for the youngsters last night. Although, to be honest, I could not have told you he had scored a hat trick last night as a couple of the goals were lightning fast, but even then I couldn't make out what the guy was saying over the tannoy. And then Dino Cleland was added into the mix. I had not realised he was just returning from injury, but the way he took his goal you would never have guessed he had been out of the team. he scored a bottom-corner cracker. The United coaches then made a couple of changes and their laddies came more into the game, scoring a goal that seemed a mirror image of Hibs' first goal. Among the coaches were Alex Cleland and Dave Bowman, who still looks as if he could walk onto a park and continue to kick everybody. But then Darren and Boozy and Gareth brought on a couple of 15- or 16-year olds for their debut in the team, and neither laddie looked out of place, even being so young.
A smashing game to watch and a terrific result given that the young Hibees had several first-team players out through injury.
My wife thinks she saw something this eftie saying the final would be played at Airdrie - but she does not want to be held to that.
I reiterate - get yersel along to the Final. These laddies deserve all the encouragement they can get.

The Wee Hibs play Hearts at Oriam 19:30 Friday.
Then we have them at HTC next week.

Any news of when and where this final might be held?

Hope they are all going tobe ok for the Celtic game.
it would be great to see some of the laddies getting a first team spot. With nothing for our first team left to play for this makes sense. However we need to be carefull and not overplay some of these young guys as they now have a final to win. The decision needs to be made what is best for their development and what works best for Hibs moving forward.

Are we not playing to get 5th place and a potential European spot. Jeez Hearts scrape past our 9 men and now it’s game over.

Just back from Olivebank, Musselburgh watching the Hibs development team play Musselburgh Athletic in our first pre-season friendly.
Hibs had a very young team out, whereas Musselburgh were all much older and stronger.
Kevin Thomson's son Jackson played in midfield for Hibs and was outstanding....his dad was there watching.
The number 10 for Hibs was also very good, and whoever scored Hibs late winner ( great goal btw) was also good.
Will have to wait to see the line-ups. I just don't know any of the Hibs lads but they all acquitted themselves well against a strong Musselburgh team.

First half was tight, but the game opened up in the second half and it was a good game to watch for a pre-season match.
Lots of subs made by both teams in the second half.
Hibs scored first early in the second half (no. 9 scored...really well taken goal)) and Musselburgh equalised about 10 mins later, good cross and header.
Our winning goal came near the end, the lad cut in from the left and curled home a great goal.
Good wee set-up they have down there.

Final score 2-1 Hibs.

10 was Callum McDonald. Winner scored by Josh McDonald. Decent game and for such a young Hibs team they did well .

Josh needs to go on loan perhaps to lowland league or second division, needs to get tested . Little point playing another season at U19s.

Excellent "Just Back". That was the game we were at. The scorer of the winning goal, No 7, was Josh McDonald, a smashing wee player and training with the First Team squad.

I think both Katey and his lad are or were ST holders at Hibs.

Doesn’t make them good lads, obviously, but saves their feet.

If that's the case then my assumption is wrong. His continual association with Rangers over the years, either in employment or viewpoint made me think his allegiance leans more towards them.
