Vehicle safety recall notices

Got one today for my 19 year old fairly clapt out Vauxhall Vectra.
Driver side airbag needs to be replaced for "safety" reasons and they offer a free replacement at the nearest Vauxhall dealer which is
miles away at Sighthill. Apparent there have been cases worldwide of the airbags rupturing in a crash causing serious injury, so this is a worldwide recall thing.

I'm trying to get another car anyway, should I really bother with this ?
Anyone else had these recall notices ?
I've had my car for 9 years, and only use it for very short journeys.

Interested to hear thoughts from anyone in the know about these things.

Wild that it's taken so long to find defective bags.
Never considered that they would be time specific as well as single use.

If you're getting a new car and you're going to trade the Vectra at the same time, I wouldn't bother. The dealer should get the recall sorted out. If they don't scrap.

But if you're selling it to someone else or passing it on, I'd get it the recall carried out. No guarantee a new owner will look for recalls. (Technically on them, but I'd feel better doing it)

Even on one of your very short journeys you could be involved in an accident so if it was me I'd be getting it sorted out straight away. Why drive around knowing there's something defective in your car which could cause you a serious injury.

Aye, this too actually if you're still gonna be using it 🫣
