Upcoming gigs?

Just bought tickets to see Eddi Reader at the Tivoli Aberdeen on 23rd April - third time we’ve seen her in a few months. Only a handful of tickets left and they’re all in the Vertigo Deck.

R.E.M. basically did this the last time I ever saw them live. A setlist of older tracks, deep cuts and album tracks with a couple of big guns thrown in at the end during the encore. Brilliant it was.

Crash test Dummies playing at la belle in October. Is just over £40 a ticket no quite pricey for that venue?

Not sure on that, but I do now have 'mmm mmm mmm mmm' stuck in my head for the day.

I'd say so. If you're wanting a 90's alt rock comparison, Throwing Muses were only £26 in there when I saw them in there last year.

Does seem pricey. Think they were around 30 quid when I saw them in Glasgow just over a year ago. Was a good gig though.

Aye, its usually £30 or a wee bit less for gigs (certainly ones I've been to) at that venue. I go along to gigs with a mate and its my turn to buy the tickets for the next gig we go to.....this miserable Fifer is raging

Saw Teenage Fanclub do a similar thing at Òran mór in Glasgow many years ago. Played a set of tracks they never normally played live, particularly off their Thirteen album. Great stuff.

Been going to this for yrs usually its in Glasgow could have found a better venue but its good to see a Punk Festival in Edinburgh
 
Just bagged tickets for Afghan Whigs at SwG3 in September. Can't wait for that one, but the number of bands I like with "40th anniversary of..." on their tour posters these days is alarming

Before then Swell Maps at Mono this month, Mitski at the Barras next month, Sugar at the Barras and Alanis Morrissette, Skunk Anansie and Wet Leg at Bellahouston Park in June,

Then Wedding Present at QMU in October.

The gig calender is filling up...
 
Got a few Biffy Clyro and Prodigy at Edinburgh Summer sessions.
Rudimental DJ set at Fringe by the sea.Dirty Harry at la Bella Angele.
Proclaimers at playhouse.80s Calling Dundee and Toots and the Maytals at queens hall.

Really enjoyed the gig last night....even got to sing a bit of "Waitin on a Sunny day" !
I was the first one he gave the mic to !
That's about five times I have seen them now in the last 12 years or so...they've changed the band around a fair bit.
Dougie does a good job though as front man.

What did you think of it ?

Eddi and her excellent band delivered once again but the highlight of our night was the support act - Miwa Nagato-Apthorp from Hawick. An enchanting mixture of Borders folk music with Japanese influences, delivered by a lassie with an incredible voice. Definitely one worth checking out for those with eclectic tastes.
 
Last night I saw For the Love of Shane MacGowan, cracking night great music and a few funny stories about the Legend that was Shane MacGowan
Tomorrow night I’ve got Big Country

Was at the queens hall last night seeing the skids. Seen them loads of times going back to tiffanys ballroom a long time ago. Have to say they were tremendous. Loads of old farts pogoing. Great gig. Jobson still a tremendous front man.

He has an amazing amount of energy for someone his age , I always enjoy their visits to MacArts

Saw this show at the Voodoo Rooms last year it was a great night

£6 for a can of Tennents in the venue…

Was a huge fan in my early to mid teens and saw them several times between 1980 and 1983.
First time was when I was 15 and saw them at the Glasgow Apollo in 1980.
40 year anniversary gig at the SECC in 2004 was good as well.
Not sure I think it's a good idea for them to reform with a female drummer.
Without the great Neil Peart it can't be Rush IMO.

Usher Hall is actually OK for a seated gig. Seen Crowded House and The War on Drugs there, you get a great view.

Seen Shed 7 in Birmingham a few years ago at an Indie festival with Happy Mondays, Cast and a few others, they were decent.

I'm good with it. If Alex and Geddy want to do it, who am I to disagree. Yes, it won't be the same, I'm just happy to hear all my favourites one last time. Neil's family have given it their blessing. I don't think they would have toured again had Neil not died as he was done with playing live.

Never been to the Usher hall for a gig, looking forward to it Aye, I seen Happy Mondays a few years ago at a festival, prefer to remember them from their glory days.
