We’re in a caravan at Findhorn - thunder, lightning and torrential rain for much of the night so it was pretty noisy. Off for a walk soon before the next storm rumbles through.Amazing light show. What a fuckin racket. Dugs under the bed.
No seen, or heard, a show like that before. It woke me and by the time I realised what it was and got my phone oot most of it had gone.MemoriesWe’re in a caravan at Findhorn - thunder, lightning and torrential rain for much of the night so it was pretty noisy. Mental eh? Never seen the like in the UK beforeAmazing light show. What a fuckin racket. Dugs under the bed. View attachment 21994
No. Nothing on the coast either.61 miles off the coast by Aberdeen. Nowt!
Had a few rumbles of thunder up here this morning but no more than a light drizzle on the morning walk. Got an 80 mile drive home after the gig tonight so hoping it stays like this.No. Nothing on the coast either.
It did say thunderstorms were possible, but not a thing here.
Amazing Kev.
Brilliant. The good weather is back. Nowt like a nice bit rain to cheer someone up.
Get The Smiths, Joy Division, Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds on.
Happy days![]()
Never liked it when it is too hot mate.Best have a noose ready![]()

It is, but there isn't a constant demand, so there have to be steps to mange the grid.I thought that solar power was the way forward?.....
Britain’s biggest community solar farm forced to shut over grid overload fears
Timing of Devon switchoff ‘could not be worse’, says board, as members face an estimated £2m in lost revenue.
The surge in rooftop solar power is particularly difficult to manage during the summer when long, sunny days lead to more generation than a local grid might need.

Good, solar farms should be banned. Just put solar panels on every roofI thought that solar power was the way forward?.....

Why?Good, solar farms should be banned. Just put solar panels on every roof

Because the majority are being put on food producing fieldsWhy?
That is a brilliant ideaIt's alot easier to change panels on a solar farm than on every rooftop in 30 years time.
Solar farms are fine, but we should be putting them in places where they can be multipurpose.
I saw an idea for putting them in open air carparks. So they sit 8-10 ft above ground, cars park underneath. Keeps all the cars cool and sooks up the sun.
So if they are producing so much energy why are prices so high?It is, but there isn't a constant demand, so there have to be steps to mange the grid.
The Chinese are planting crops between the rows of solar panels - I wouldn’t imagine anyone in power in the UK thought of that.Because the majority are being put on food producing fields

There's no demand for it - it's the middle of summer. Electricity prices are linked to gas, because that's the fuel that is used to meet gaps in supply. You can argue whether that's the right approach but it does prevent blackouts. So if they are producing so much energy why are prices so high?
Can’t remember the details but you could be right.I don't think you'll get many crops in land under/around a solar farm.
The lack of sunlight to the ground and uneven rainwater would make it pretty unsuitable I'd have thought?
Isn't this thing them actually reclaiming desert?
So it's good for growth in extremely dry environments, but no as good for farmland like we're doing.
But does that not point to a major problem Archie? There's no demand for it - it's the middle of summer. Electricity prices are linked to gas, because that's the fuel that is used to meet gaps in supply. You can argue whether that's the right approach but it does prevent blackouts.
It's not a problem if you have a good energy mix. And solar panels do produce energy all year around. But does that not point to a major problem Archie?
There's no demand when the sun is out and there's no sun to power them when the leccy is needed.
Seems complicated to me. Things gather power then get turned off. It's not a problem if you have a good energy mix. And solar panels do produce energy all year around.
