Tv series

Not a tv series but watched Scream for me Sarajevo on iplayer last night,I know metal isn't most of the Bounces cup of tea but ignore the music and the story is as inspiring as it is heartbreaking, scenes from this will live with me for a long time.
Basically,at the time ex Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson playing a one off show at the height of the Bosnian war,the joy and life changing experiences of the crowd mixed with graffic footage of the atrocities of the conflict

Just finished Black Mirror. Charlie Brooker has some imagination. I read that his next offerings will be more horror than suspense.

if you have access to Disney+ and don’t mind putting your blood pressure at risk, I would recommend Dopesick.

It’s about the OxyContin / opiates catastrophe in the US (in particular) and is absolutely horrifying and infuriating.

I’ve read a book about the same subject called Empire of Pain, which tbh I found a bit of a slog - but I don’t think because it’s a bad book, I’m just a lazy reader - but provided useful additional context.

It’s an almost Shakespearean tragedy - not an invention of big pharma, but of a family business who initially had good intentions as at least part of their motives, but became hopelessly corrupted by money and venality.

From there it becomes truly sickening and dare I say it, evil. A bunch of virtue signalling blue state elites, poisoning a blue collar America dying of despair. If you want to know why trump happened, here’s an element of the answer.

One angle I haven’t seen examined in any coverage of this is the argument about drugs legalisation ; this adventure effectively legalised a heroin equivalent and it was a catastrophe - destroying people that would never have come near illegal heroin (including turning a lot of them to it)

I had my staying with me last year until he went into the hospice to die. Part of his meds was oxycontin in liquid form.

I've still got some here in a bottle.

And that's its proper use - and where original noble intent was aimed. But it then became hyper profitable to dish it out like sweeties in every more powerful doses.

No so much TV series more if a yatube thing

Found this site whilst having a wee browse around.

And click on the high street link for the video of there.

I'm watching from... season 2 just finished. Basically people turn up at this town and can't leave then at night time these vampire type creatures come out and kill them

Anyone watched Silo? Silo (TV series) - Wikipedia

Base on the wool series of books by Hugh howey, I've been a sucker for dystopian sci fi since bladerunner and this one looks good....

Also really looking forward to finding the time to watch the Bear season 2

Looks interesting but don't have Apple+
I read the first book of the trilogy and have the other 2 on my Kindle. Quite enjoyable but owes a huge debt to the Fallout games series imo.

Just watched the first episode. Think I'll stick with it. Got a Blade runner/Rendevous with Rama feel about it.

I don't mind some of the futuristic films to be fair.
I hate those car chase/ machine gun massacre films.

Aye. I'm a fan of the books as well and it's a faithful adaption. Gary Oldman malwa a brilliant Jackson Lamb
Just finished the 3rd book, Real Tigers, which is my favourite so far. The characters and writing are really hitting their stride now. Closer to Len Deighton than Le Carré but as just enjoyable as both.

Enjoyed Slow Horses, hope there’s a 3rd series. Been waiting Ghosts of Beirut, have enjoyed it so far, and appreciate I’m probably a wee bit late to this party but started watching Shetland a couple of months back, up to the 4th series and it’s great… makes you want to visit

Apparently Slow Horses series 3 and 4 have already been commissioned.

The books are excellent. The show is a very good adaptation, casting is more or less spot on.

Seen clips of a show called Mr Inbetween. Ran for three seasons a few years back. Think I'm going to give that a go
