Tv series

We Own This City, true story about corrupt Baltimore police, very good.

Just finished series 5 of el marginal, poor compared to the previous series.

Just bing watched Anotomy of an affair on netflix best telly ive watched in yrs
Didn't like it at all. Thought the story and especially the twist were ridiculous, and it didn't seem to know what it wanted to be.
I think Michelle Dockery is a really good actress, but this was just trashy.
Each to there own though.

Binged Pistol over the last two nights.

It's pretty good. It's deliberately style over substance but it tells a well trodden story in an entertaining way.

Jist finished a Star Trek Discovery binge last night (3 seasons). Wasn't expecting it to be up to much but it was excellent, even sticking more to the original ethos than other more recent ST series have done.

I am a card-carrying trekkie, mind :wolfie: :alieny::popcorn3:

Finally found a free source for discovery and half way through season one. The wokeness is amusing, and Iโ€™m finding it really enjoyable.

The thing about trek and Star Wars is that now virtually every new output is linked to previous output. Which is fine, but it makes it seem extremely inaccessible to new viewers. Like one comment I heard about Kenobi being โ€œshiteโ€ whereas my 8 year old loves it, and gets who the characters are and the story.

For anyone who's a history buff , Lucy Worsley's recent four part series is worth a watch, especially episode one which was about the Scottish Witch trails

Sherwood ๐Ÿ‘
Present day murder drama tied in with miners strike of 1984
I'm admittedly a bit biased as this story is heavily influenced by a couple of major crimes in the area a few miles away some years ago which were pretty serious and somewhat creepy. It's based around the North Notts mining village of Annesley Woodhouse and it's proximity to the old Sherwood Forest. Much of it has been filmed there apparently.

Watched the first couple of episodes and it's notable the great quality of the cast. Much of story reminds me of the miners strike years and the divisions it created in families and communities which sadly exist still to this day. Annesley was very much a UDM village at odds with NUM miners from other areas who were pro-strike. There was a huge amount of conflict in those mining areas at that time. The bitterness has never really left. Friend against friend, family against family.

Some great performances and an intriguing storyline, beautifully shot in some lovely green Nottinghamshire countryside which adds greatly.

Any yous watched The Offer? About the making of The Godfather. Quite enjoyable.

Also the series just started called Dark Winds.

On a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation in 1971, Lt. Joe Leaphorn of the Tribal Police and new Deputy Jim Chee are besieged by a series of seemingly unrelated crimes; together, the two men face the trauma of their pasts as they search for clues.

Watching Looking After Jo Jo the now.

Last time I looked they were all on Yatube.

So was Just A Boys Game on Yatube

Sherwood...

Curious... This incident has happened today near Newstead Station, Nottinghamshire. Newstead Station and that line is where an incident on the Sherwood drama of an arrow hitting a moving train was filmed.

'A spokesperson from East Midlands Railway said: "British Transport Police received a report of an object hitting a moving train near Newstead station at 11.50am today. The window of the rear cab was shattered, and thankfully no one on board sustained any injuries."

They added: "The train is now being held nearby while officers carry out enquiries.'

Watching the Offer now, Dark Winds is getting interesting too. Finished series 2 of Tehran, it was good.

There was a telly series about the polis in Baghdad after Sadam got offer. An Iraqi polis searching for his lassie.

Worth a watch.

I'll get the name and post it.

Maybe Baghdad Central

Yes, thought it was superb. Not so many TV dramas catch my attention these days and it's a long time since I've looked forward to one like this. Some terrific performances. The 'feel' of it really captures the disbelieving and bewildered reaction to the actual two crimes that happened in that small, once close-knit community those years ago with the manhunt in the woodlands of Annesley.

Had to smile at the football 'scab' references. It's still a regular taunt when Yorkshire teams play Forest even a generation later.

Just started watching Sherwood. On episode two now. Shaping up nicely.

Who remembers David Morrissey from yonks back in a three parter (I think) called One Summer?

Aye he's a slippery fucker mate.

Some good actors in Sherwood.

My mate told me about a cop thing set in Baltimore called We Own This City.

Having enjoyed The Wire i have seen two characters from that show in the new one. Both cops this time.
