I haven’t seen the full video, but given the history of racism in the US, and Trumps somewhat checkered history in that area, I’d suggest that this video warrants more than a ‘poor show’.
It’s a complete ‘what the fuck were they thinking’ at an absolute minimum.
In any other line of business, some *&*^ head would go for what is either intentionally or in error, a monumental fuck up.

It's not a fuck up. It's a deliberate play. I do give some credence to the view that the people who generate this stuff for him are the worst bro types. But he has such a history with the race stuff and Obama that it's difficult to believe he didn't know, retweet or not. And his base will love it.
In any event Karoline Levett was well briefed to swat off criticism in the dismissive way that she does. But there was too much heat even for them, so it was taken down.

And folk want to still go visit that country. If any other country behaved like the republicans have there would be huge travel warnings. It's almost as if folk are just shutting themselves off from reality. Quite a few will get a shock when they are refused entry. Indeed. I call it the royal keane or scott brown syndrome. If they are on your team you don't see their behaviour as wrong but if he is in the opposition team they are the devil. The worrying thing to me is we are trivialising horrendous actions and the perpetrators now continue while each side plays the royal keane game. We are fecked as a society if we can't see what's not acceptable and look at it through a tribal lense. There's a lot in what you say. And unfortunately social media is a fantastic vector to amplify that. One of the issues is the blurring of opinion and fact. If we take the Trump video including the Obamas. The Obamas were represented as apes. Fact. Other Democrats were represented as animals. Fact. Because other Democrats were represented as animals the video wasn't racist. This is an opinion, not a fact.
Now this opinion was all over the right wing ecosphere today. That doesn't make it a fact. And you can see who benefits from blurring the distinction between fact and opinion.

The guy is a fucking dangerous clown but he didn't appear from nowhere. He's the product of voter dissatisfaction with complacent liberal progressives. See also Orban, Meloni, Le Pen, Farage etc. They didn't arise in a vacuum. They are the inevitable consequence of the global elite pissing on voters' heads and telling them it's raining.

I haven't watched the lion king so I couldn't say. Looks like one of these AI vids to me though.
As I say, it has democrats black and white as monkeys and apes (including Biden as one of those arse faced baboons, chomping on a banana) and democrats black and white as other animals. Its certainly moronic - for many reasons including the obvious interpretation that has been taken, and understandably so, especially as many / most clips are edited to engineer that reaction.
I think it's wrong even if there was no racist intent - this meme based stuff is not something those in office should be participating in. Is it intended to be racist, well I'm not in Trump's head so I can't say for sure. But based on the whole vid I'm not persuaded, at least from his pov (versus the creators). I'm not sure the thick feck will have seen passed his depiction as the lion king (whether from the movie or not) strutting among democrats of all shades, depicted as animals of all kinds.

Well that is absolutely clear : it is the progressive left who have been at it for decades before fire was finally returned. And I say this with the confidence of someone who predicted that somewhat obvious turn of events while it was still a one way rout and Donny was still a New York Liberal. And also it's just true - I mean for heaven's sake does that not count for anything, even now?
As ever my caveat and mea culpa is i underestimated america as - post 911 - it hurtled into European pathologies much quicker than the process in Europe, with all the instability that comes from that accelerated pace. I stand by the prediction that Europe will far surpass it in time.
You clearly prefer narrative to facts, more than anyone else on the board and by a distance, but the facts are there nonetheless. Trump has for sure upped the ante but he hasn't innovated anything, liberals / Democrats being first to the punch with (among other things) :
- politicising the three letter agencies and using them against opponents
- delegitimising elections
- using lawfare against opponents
- making identify politics central to the process
- having the tech platforms act as their goebbels (as well as Hollywood, the universities and corporate HR, which I suspect will elude Trump's grasp)
- inciting street level political violence and politicising the response to it - by far and away more than Trump has ever done, with a resultant body count higher by at least two orders of magnitude
- tolerating racist nut jobs within the tent
- spouting fake news like it's going out of fashion - indeed inventing the whole post truth mode
- making violent metaphors common currency
You can add to that things Trump has not got near, such as institutionalising racial discrimination, trashing race relations, sowing mental illness on a vast scale amongst the young, and cultivating sectarianism and division at every level of society.
Even today, the institutions of state and the wider establishment are still overwhelmingly full of their placemen with a thin skin of under qualified and inappropriate for role Trumpian zoomers trying to bend them to the jefe's will.
This can only be seen properly at civilisational level because the same is at work across the entire west. An unholy alliance of the haves of Wall Street (and it's equivalents) and the state bureaucracy waging war on their hapless citizens while siphoning wealth out of them. And so a revolutionary foment has eventually been sown. And revolutionaries are invariably cnuts. It might be harder to see from within the palace but tbh you have to wilfully blind yourself not to.
You can keep on doing that, because the truth is too uncomfortable. But in so doing you doom yourself to be like me, a useless and impotent and irrelevant clanging gong, banging away on events you don't like. But with the added demerit of wilfully refusing to understand any of them.
Your time is over Archie, and so is mine. Fuck knows what awaits but neither of us did a single useful thing to hold the pass (though far from this windbagging pit I have done my bit to land some pyrrhic blows on behalf of workers vs global capital) .
