Yes. Because we assume that these are rational actors. I suspect Trump is pretty stung by the accusations of being in Putin's pocket. But equally likely is that someone on the ground makes a bad decision and leaders lose control of the situation.
 
Starting to look like the duck is considering an invasion of Greenland and that would include denmark as well 🤔
 
You know. I shall be braving the ice and snow after work to go foraging for supplies with which to feed the family.

I am just going to add beer to the cart as the world is just so stupid and idiotic. I mean when has it ever not been? I have plenty of history books laying out the crazy actions of many psycopathic murderous greed driven bastards over the millenia. Power kills, greed corrupts and we let the worst of us get the reigns repeatedly in every political system ever attempted.

May as well just drink the beer. And wait for the Russians to come back and kill everyone, then export the "problem" to Siberia.

I mean everyone hates Europe. And wants to have Europe destroyed and the countries within reduced to rubble. That seems to be part of the USA's outlook and Putin hates Europe but loves our banks. Meh. The Brexiters certainly were expecting the EU to collapse and the USA and Russia would dearly love that and are blatently trying to accomplish this whilst breaking up NATO as well.

I've watched this film a couple of times about the last time Russia invaded Hungary.

Christmas 1944. Soviet soldiers invade Hungary and drag every young woman with German origins away from their villages and transport them to a brutal Soviet labour camps. Here they are forced to work in the coal mines under inhumane conditions.

I think it needs to be said that there a lot of people terrified of the Russians. My FIL is an ex soldier and is absolutely terrified of them coming back as he saw how they were first hand and I don't think much has likely changed. Brutal regime and they will go in for rape and pillage as the officers turn a blind eye. They are treated so badly that the humanity is beaten out of them. And back then they did actually have some training.

They were brutal in 1956 as well. The Czechs found out as well in 1968.

The Cold War casts a long shadow over the former Warsaw Pact. Remember it was an occupation and countries were not free. You can still see the Russian barracks around and about.

"Partly" explains Orbán and Fico, but I think they are just jealous and terrified they may lose power next time around.

In the old days there would have been choreography around this with back channel negotiations/info exchange. Hard to know if that is the case right now.

The US seem to me to be trying to stop Europe turning itself into rubble.

I think only Europe hates Europe, i don't think we are significant enough to invoke strength of feeling in anyone else bar the yanks, who feel the obligation of a frustrated child to a senile parent.

To the rest of the world we are not especially relevant I suspect, other than as consumers of their stuff until we exhaust the kid's inheritance. We are dinosaurs in every way. I think the main sentiment we invoke is likely pity.

One thing we can't be faulted on is our egoes, mind. And so it seems difficult for us to see ourselves as others do. At the end of the day we still believe we are centre stage, but we really aren't.
 
Anybody seen any mention of the Epstein files this week?

Nah. He’s chipping away at Canada there. They’re the big prize. It’s the new age of empire. The American empire. He might leave the Canadians until last after he’s toppled Mexico and the entirety of South America. Iceland is next after Greenland

There are only two things in that statement which affect the world our kids will inherit. That one, and Nato members pulling their weight, in which respect he is sadly talking pish as ever.

So yes , it is my take. I wish our own leaders would act on that point.
